I watched Ron Paul on Glenn Beck today and as usual I was amazed that he is just about the only politician in Washington talking about the real issues. Neither McCain nor Obama will talk about monetary policy. They are scared to, because they know the system we have is unconstitutional and that the only way to fix things is to go back to constitutional money. But that would hurt, so it wouldn't be prudent to bring it up...
Welcome to FreeRepublic. Did Paul also flap his gums about his brilliant Pelosi-esque foreign policy prescriptions?
No, he didn’t say anything about US empire building.
You're on thin ice, Noob. Why don't you tell us all how 9/11 was a Jewish Neocon plot, the Bilderbugers rule the world and "no more blood for oil" and etc... Frickin' anti-semite skinheads and Birkenstockers...
That’s unusual for him to not flap gums in support of Pelosi’s foreign policy even when the question has to do with Texas sized earmarks or other things unrelated.
Do you know the defination of imperialism?
I believe the only plot on 9/11 was on the part of the terrorists, I’ve never heard of the Bilderbugers or the Birkenstockers, and I am not part of the “no blood for oil” crowd. I just believe in a sensible non interventionist foreign policy.
Pelosi and Paul really don’t share the same foreign policy. Pelosi would still have us policing the world, Paul wouldn’t.
Don’t be saying nice things about Ron Paul, you’ll be invited to kiss the founders ass. I know.
Try reading this... http://www.ejectejecteject.com/archives/2002_12.html
Where has Pelosi called for us to police? Certainly not Iraq, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Tawain, Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Somalia, Burma....
Problem is, even if Paul were made President tomorrow, the system is far too deeply entrenched to do a thing about it.
Basically, there is on the order of 13 trillion or more paper dollars in one form or other in various economies, there is simply no way to back all of that with gold or what have you.
And that leads to the other issue, if the above is true, the only way to keep things moving is via inflated growth around the globe, the two go hand in hand.
Yeah, it’s something we’ve been doing to one extent or another since the Spanish-American War. We don’t want to admit we have imperialistic tendencies, but having 700 bases in 130 countries is the very opposite of a humble foreign policy of non interventionism.
you belong over on the huffington post.
Gee, let’s ask the simple questions first.
— Why exactly is our current money “unconstitutional”?
— What would constitute “going back to constitutional money”? Be precise.
Face it, you're just a wimpy pacifist. Pacifists disgust me. You complain about all the military bases we have. I look at them as outposts to watch over all the megalomaniacal mass-murdering dictators that we have in the world today. You and the Paulites are a true danger to freedom and capitalism everywhere. You guys wouldn't lift a finger to free millions of people who are subjugated to a dictator, while you sit in the USA and enjoy these freedoms as if they were your God given right. I would demolish you in a debate.
She supported Kosovo, Bosnia, and Haiti interventions, plus she supported having a military occupation of Palestine.
Buncha liberals over there.
She would allow the afghanistan “imperialism” to continue. Paul wouldn’t. To a Paulogist, the afghanistan war was a mistake and we need to retreat immediately. The line between a paulogist and a truther is so thin you need a microscope to detect it. They have slightly different reasons for supporting the same action: complete and total surrender to al qaeda. Compared to Paul, Obama and Pelosi seem more like Bush on foreign policy.
I am not a pacifist. I believe in the theory of Just War. And how exactly is peace a danger to freedom and capitalism? It is not our business to “free” millions of people from a dictator. If the people want freedom, they will eventually decide to TAKE IT, just like we did. And by the way, the freedoms we have ARE God given. Our Constitution was written so that our government would protect those God given rights. Yep, you really demolished me.
Where’s your reply to my questions? Loser. You don’t have an answer. Do you?
Paul supported the Afghanistan action to begin with, but we didn’t really do what we said we were going to do. And now we don’t even know where Osama Bin Laden is. Oh, and you can throw out labels such as paulogist and truther all you want, but at least have the decency to attack my arguments, instead of attacking those of a group.
You’re an ignorant ElRon buttkiss. A waste of time.
Take that reasoning to WWII. We should never have entered the european theater according to your own logic. Germany didn’t attack us at Pearl Harbor. The US should have guaranteed Germany and Italy that they would not assist Britain any longer if they agreed not to declare war on the US. It was not our business to free millions from Hitler LOL.
Geez, try being polite. It goes a long way in a discussion. The answer is of course in the Constitution. Our current money is unconstitutional because it is fiat paper money, and is not backed by anything. The framers of the Constitution specified that only gold and/or silver could be used as money. The reason why is because if there is a printing press available to print money, governments inevitably print what they need/want, and the currency is devalued to the point of worthlessness. They knew this from experience because they printed “Continentals” during the war and it got so bad there was a saying: “not worth a Continental”. Going back to Constitutional money would mean at the very least stopping the printing presses completely and going on some kind of gold standard, or even a gold/silver hybrid of some sort. The devil is, of course, in the details.
How am I ignorant? Why are you so rude?
He wants to surrender in afghanistan. Yes or no? I don’t care whether he supported it on 9/12 (figuratively, if you nit pick on this I’ll eat your head off for dinner) or not, he wants to surrender now that the going has gotten tough. We know Osama is either in afghanistan or so close to it that it is essential that we maintain operations there to eventually pursue him wherever he is. Claiming he “might not” be there is a weak dodge. It doesn’t matter. The taliban IS there and they protected him.
PS. My understanding is paul wanted a surgical strike, not a war in afghanistan. He is a pacifist.
We could have avoided WWII altogether, at least our part in it. FDR’s “opposite of neutral” policies before we got into it led to Japan’s attack of Pearl Harbor. If we had stayed neutral during the war, there would not have been a need for making deals with anyone.
He wants our military out of all foreign countries, period. That’s not surrender, that’s ending a destructive foreign policy that’s gone on for over a hundred years. We’ve been fighting in Afghanistan for so long now, it’s crazy that we haven’t gotten him. Either he’s there or not. If he is, get him, if not, find his a$$.
>> Why are you so rude?
Because you’re a Paulista sh!thead and I have no patience with them.
Um, ok.
Art. I Sec. 8 Cl. 5
[Congress shall have Power ... ] To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, ...;
Art. I Sec. 10 Cl. 1
[No State shall ...] make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; ...
Notice Congress does not have the power to make anything “legal tender”, which is what paper money is. Read your history and read the Constitution...PLEASE.
I listen to Glenn Beck and mostly agree, but he does go on these anal benders consisting of a full hour of a doting interview of a favorite subject specific guru.
(Me, I’m sixty and fully deployable to one of these 700 overseas bases. It’s great being a warrant officer.)
You are indeed a pacifist, that's clear. OK, let's start your education since you are so ignorant of the facts. Pacifists always are, so that's another clue you are one. 1.Saddam wouldn't comply to 17 UN resolutions. 2.We have found over 300 mass graves in Iraq. 3.Saddam was paying $25K to each family of every Palestinian suicide bomber 4. He was shooting at our planes in the no-fly zone. 5. He was shooting at our weapons inspectors. 6. He shot Scud missles at Israel. 7. He has a terrorist training camp called Salman Pak in the suburbs of Baghdad. 8. Invaded Kuwait, 9. Used WMD's on the Kurds. 10.Harbored many terrorists in Iraq, some of which were living openly in Baghdad. And with all that, you and the rest of the idiot Paulites think that we shouldn't have invaded and taken him out. Thank God you and Ron Paul wern't around during Hitler's reign, we'd all be speaking German now. And how exactly is peace a danger to freedom and capitalism?
You can't even see the basic logic? Amazing, but sad. Your version of peace is not peace but total subjugation to any dictator who flexes his muscles, when then causes gestapo-like tactics that go on for a long time when we or anyone else live under a dictator.
It is not our business to free millions of people from a dictator.
. Yes, it is, if you have a heart and are not selfish to the fate of others. You and the other paulities are real cold-hearted people with no conscience.
If the people want freedom, they will eventually decide to TAKE IT, just like we did.
Not if they don't have any guns and the other side has all the weapons. There will be much less human death if the US goes in quickly and takes out the dictator and be done with it. Your appeasement at all costs actually costs many more lives in the long run, not to mention a LOT more human suffering by the subjugated citizens.
And by the way, the freedoms we have ARE God given. Our Constitution was written so that our government would protect those God given rights.
And you don't want to help anyone else have a chance at the same kind of government? Boy, you are selfish!
Yep, you really demolished me.
I sure did. Anywhere, anytime, you loser pacifist.
Surgical strike and pacifist don’t go together.
Why not go back to your original fascist site.
FR has been up since the late 1990s why waite until a few weeks ago to sign up.
9/11 Truther Alex Jones and Storm Front are backers of L Ron Paul
L Ron Paul, ACLU employee Bobby Barr and WackO Baldwin are all certifiable for the NP Ward.
Congress is permitted to borrow money on the credit of the United States. In 1871, when deciding Knox v. Lee, the [Supreme] Court ruled that this clause permitted Congress to emit bills and make them legal tender in satisfaction of debts.
Read and understand your history, you ignorant sack of Rupaul puke.
This meant a need for a constant flow of Money (higher taxes) for R&D, Intel, Ground forces etc.
This along with the realization of advancing technology with weapons able to do lethal damage from thousands of miles away have changed everything in the world. Gone are the days of non involvement defensively in the world.
I think many ppl confuse these realities with Imperialism. After the damage in WWII to so many countries, America was the only one strong enough to fill the role we now play. FDR was in constant conflict with Churchill, trying to convince him that Imperialism was over.
I was a Fred Thompson supporter, but I like Ron Paul alot. I can disagree with him on some things, but agree with him on many more. He's worthy of listening to by all Americans.
How in the hell could we have avoided WWII you idiot???
That's appeasement and "all carrot and no stick". You paulites have to be nuts to think that withdrawing our troops from around the world is a good idea. The dictators would LOVE you.
Weve been fighting in Afghanistan for so long now, its crazy that we havent gotten him. Either hes there or not. If he is, get him, if not, find his a$$.
Another example of Paulite lunacy. Earth to Paulites...It is not a good military battle plan to concentrate solely on killing the general instead of killing the troops.
Demolishment continuing.
Yes, and the Hitler-Saddam types just keep on coming. Obviously, we need to keep outposts for any little pygmy dictator that pops up so we can play a quick game of whack-a-mole before the nut decides to really go megalomanical on us.
Paullites are too stupid to realize this. Pacifism has warped their brain.
If the USA would have stayed out of WWII than the Russians may have been the first to obtains the atomic bomb....
I don't agree with you...
You’re right, blatant stacking of the Supreme Court did go on pretty badly during that time. The court previously held that legal tender was unconstitutional, and it plainly was, but Ulysses Grant stacked the court, but two extra justices on it, and got the ruling he wanted. The separation of powers was under attack long ago, wasn’t it? Grant turned the court into a bunch of tyrants in black robes, kind of like what we see today sometimes. When I told you to read and understand your history and your Constitution, perhaps I forgot to tell you to look out for WHERE WE WENT WRONG. Instead of interpreting the Constitution the way it was written and staying within its bounds, we now try to see just how far we can go out of bounds.
Because it is not Gold, or currency backed by gold.
"What would constitute 'going back to constitutional money?'
Coining money with appropriate intrinsic value, and printing currency backed by gold.
Listen you POS, I grew up around dozens of people fresh out of the Nazi camps and in some cases, they were the only person left of their family.
You are full of the Storm Front, fascist propaganda.
The adults here don’t care to read your crap.
By staying neutral. That means we should not have assisted and armed one of the warring sides. That was against international laws on neutrality, and was an act of war in and of itself. FDR also froze all Japanese assets here in the states, and intervened in China, both of which are acts of war.
>> I forgot to tell you to look out for WHERE WE WENT WRONG
Yeah, sure.
I guess you could help out there, right?
Let me guess... anything Space Alien ElRon says is RIGHT, and anything else is WRONG.
Yeah, ElRon Paul and ElRon Hubbard. Paulestinians and Scientologists. Ignorant, dogmatic, clueless idol-worshipping buttkissers. Birds of a feather.
Bye, pinhead.
Your opinion. (Oh yeah, yours and ElRon’s.)
Prove it.
