AZCONSERVATIVE ^ | 26 July 2008 | John Semmens

Representative Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) denied that his lack of a residence in his congressional district should disqualify him from holding his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Where I live isn’t as important as whether I bring home the bacon for my district,” Wexler insisted. “No one can fault me on that. I get my share of earmarks for my constituents.”

According to the law, congressmen must reside in the district they represent. Wexler has been illegally using his mother-in-law’s address to conceal his failure to meet the residency requirement.

It should qualify you for free room and board at federal expense at the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary.

Next thing you know, Democrats will be talking about eliminating the residency requirement. After all, why should any of them (or their friends or relatives) have to live anyplace other than DC, as long as they can come up with things to write to the constituents about - especially the pork they send their way...

Yeah, but his venal constituents over in SE Florida, land of the hanging chad, know exactly what they're getting.

No. If he were a Republican, he’d be done. He’s just fine. The Media whores and other Dems will protect him.

It is pretty digusting that the best thing you can say to explain why you don’t live in the state that you represent is “well I bring home the bacon(earmarks)”

Re: "'Where I live isn’t as important as whether I bring home the bacon for my district,'"

Isn't that special... the politics of if it feels good and no one gets hurt.. keep doing it defense. Appears Wex took his direction from the Billy Clinton school of following the law.
