Zev Chafets Delivers Masterpiece On Limbaugh

Palm BeachIn what could only have been deteremined as a yet another hit piece by the New York Times, Zev Chafets, delivered a masterpiece in his 8,000 words on Rush Limbaugh. There are certain times that many pieces of literary work should be written.
I can think of no better time than the Fourth of July to publish this excellent piece. The piece is a study of Limbaugh, his lifestyle, an abbreviated life history, and his stance on many issues. It flashes back and forth throughout his life, but gives Americans a better understanding of what Rush LImbaugh does and why he does it.

Agreed. It showed what good journalism looks like—neither too fawning nor too critical. It let the readers make up their mind.
To: raj bhatia
It was so rare for journalism that the piece, in itself, became a masterpiece.

Mr. Chafets did, indeed, write a balanced article about Rush Limbaugh. Hard to believe this was published in the NYT.
Link to the article.

Rushbo’s southern command center, although somewhat obscure, doesn't appear to be that secure. A concern of mine is that some liberal nut job will try to harm Rush. Losing this man would be a tremendous blow to American conservatives ... no one articulates our position as cleverly with that ever present sense of humor as Rush.

Anyone here remember that once, a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away, El Rushbo actually did a TV commercial for the NY Times?
Better yet, can anyone find it online and post the link?

Well, I’m stuned. As is my beeber. A piece in the NY Times on Rush that didn’t attempt to eviscerate him!
I can almost hear the assignment editor shouting... “Hey, who’s this ‘Limbow’ guy? I just heard he inked a 400 million dollar contract for something they call ‘talk radio.’ Maybe we should report this... Let’s send someone to do some background on this guy. But don’t be too mean to him. Someone with that sort of money may be looking to invest it somewhere, and if we’re really nice, maybe he’ll invest in Times stock...”

The recipe is laid out very simply: One part determination, two parts hard work, and one giant pair of brass cajones.
There is also another part - Limbaugh is a huge talent.
Many have aspired to fill his shoes, left and right. It’s not possible.

It seemed reasonably fair...or as fair as the New York Times is capable of being.
To: BluH2o
A concern of mine is that some liberal nut job will try to harm Rush. Don't worry. The actual location is still a closely guarded secret. The Limbaugh staff is carefully screened and sworn to secrecy. And I'm sure Chafets has been warned of the terrible fate facing him if he spilled the beans on where the building is.
To: Non-Sequitur
I can’t believe I read a NYT article in entirety without standing up and screaming, “Those lying SOBs!”
However, it does seem to me the reporter is trying to start a fight between Rush and other talk show hosts. O’Reilly is a bulldog, and he isn’t going to enjoy being called “Ted Baxter” at all.

And it was marvelous that he let this part make the final cut:
[At dinner the night before, Bill OReillys name came up, and Limbaugh expressed his opinion of the Fox cable king. He hadnt been sure at the time that he wanted it on the record. But on second thought, somebodys got to say it, he told me. The man is Ted Baxter.]
Rush is just Rush; nothing else is remotely like it, I sometimes regret not listening anymore.
Destiny, like the character in Bad Day at Black Rock, has assigned me to the depths of apathy.
