They only need about 23 more signatures from our congresspersons on Rep. Mike Pence's Discharge Petition to send the Broadcaster Freedom Act to the House floor for an up or down vote.
113 congresspersons signed Rep. Pence's temporary bill last year, and when you call, they might tell you that, but they must sign Rep. Pence's current Discharge Petition.
Rep. Mike Pence said that the Dem congresspersons who were against the "Fair"ness Doctrine last year, are afraid to sign his Dispatch Petition now. Rep. Pence needs 22 Dems to sign it, so it will get passed.
It sounds as if Rep. Nancy Pelosi put the word out that none of the Democrat congresspersons should sign Mike Pence's Discharge Petition, because last I heard not even one Democrat congressperson signed it.
(Last year doesn't count, because it was only for a year, and the year is about up, so STRESS to them that you mean the CURRENT Dispatch Petition.)
Mike Pence hopes to have the 22 needed signatures before this Friday (Independence Day!).
This would affect Christian radio, as well as secular conservative talk radio. Can you imagine if 30 minutes of pro-life had to be countered with a pro-”choice” side?
Many radio stations will just go out of the business of talk radio, because they won’t be able to keep up with the red tape, loss of advertisers, possibly getting sued, etc..
Please let me know if you want on/off my ping list.
And for Air America - can you imagine if 30 minutes of pro-choice had to be countered with a pro-life side?
We could watch Randi Rhodes' head explode!
And for Air America - can you imagine if 30 minutes of pro-choice had to be countered with a pro-life side?
We could watch Randi Rhodes' head explode!
“And for Air America - can you imagine if 30 minutes of pro-choice had to be countered with a pro-life side?
We could watch Randi Rhodes’ head explode!”
It still goes against our First Amendment rights. Let the FREE market decide!
I do understand your point, though. :)
I called my congresscritter twice about this issue, and brought out the fact that the so-called Fairness Doctrine was directed at talk radio only, but not at the major newspapers, like the NYTimes, or the mostly liberal tv stations.
Suspect? Suspect? They are both rotten to the core on this particular issue. And you only suspect? You are entirely too kind and diplomatic about this.
It will affect true conservatism/ We will have to all go underground a few years earlier than anticpated.
“I am very suspect of both candidates on this issue.”
I hear ya, both.
Which is why it is EXTRA important for Rep. Mark Pence’s Dispatch Petition (which will send the Broadcaster Freedom Act to the House floor for an up-or-down vote) to get enough signatures.
Otherwise, the next POTUS will be able to take away our First Amendment right.
“It will affect true conservatism/ We will have to all go underground a few years earlier than anticpated.”
Contact your rep. and tell the conservative folks on your e-mail list to contact their reps., too, so we won’t have to go underground.
Contacing our Reps, has in the past made a difference and can now.
No listeners = no advertisers = no radio. Of course, this is just what they want, right? We already have Pravda. No doubt the airways will be nationalized, too. Americans used to win wars. This one we are losing......unless....
“Contacing our Reps, has in the past made a difference and can now.”
Absolutely. We the People stopped Amnesty (at least for now), but it takes a lot of us.
“This one we are losing......unless....”
Unless we fight back, and HARD.
The congresspersons need to know that they answer to us - not Nancy Pelosi.
I politely, but bluntly, told my congresscritter’s aide, that it is OBVIOUS they got the word from Pelosi, when not one single Democrat rep. signed Congressman Mike Pence’s Discharge Petition.
The aide told me, no, the congresswoman makes her own decisions, it’s just that she doesn’t sign ANY dispatch petitions. Riiiiiiiiiiight. (sarcasm)
Brent Bozelle is on Bill Cunningham’s radio show NOW talking about the (un)Fairness Doctrine.
Bozelle says every major conservative talk show host is about to lose their job, if this passes.
Tonight I am watching a program on Babylon, Past, Present, and Future. I cannot help but compare what America has become with it’s decadence, and evil influences with Babylon. So I must say, as I have done so many times: The only way we can save our great nation under God is to repent of our wicked ways, turn from them, and to honor once again God’s commandments, and to the divine teachings of Christ Jesus.
Pray that God will strike truth into the hearts of our leaders ro restore the country to decency; to embrace again the Holy Bible from which our country was so firmly based.
Without this occurring, America is as doomed as was Nebuchadnezzar Babylon.
..we may go back to the days of underground radio from garages and pirate stations in old ships off of the coast—they will never silence us...
bump!!!!
We need to keep on emailing and phoning. At least we know whe tried.
“Pray that God will strike truth into the hearts of our leaders ro restore the country to decency; “
This is what we must do. I pray everyday that people will follow God’s will.
“..we may go back to the days of underground radio from garages and pirate stations in old ships off of the coastthey will never silence us...”
This is true, but I hope it doesn’t come to that.
btw, Laura Ingraham is back on radio today, and I bet she will fight hard to protect her First Amendment rights, and ours.
Brent Bozelle was saying that the next POTUS can institute the so-called Fairness Doctrine with just a blink of the eye.
That is why we need to keep contacting our congresscritters to sign Rep. Mike Pence’s Dispatch petition BEFORE we have a new POTUS.
Again, not one single Dem has signed it, including the Dems who signed Rep. Pence’s temporary bill around a year ago. They are more accountable to Pelosi than their constituents.

Good news. Another congresscritter, Rep. Robert Wittman, VA, signed Mike Pence’s Broadcast Freedom Act so it can go to the floor for an up or down vote.
Let’s get these reps to sign, one by one. Let your voice be HEARD!
All we need are 21 signatures now.
POLITELY shame your rep. if he/she is a Dem., by telling them that not one Dem rep. signed the petition, and they should answer to their constituents, not Nancy Pelosi.
My rep. said she makes her own decisions, but it is obvious that none of them do.
