AMERICA'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND THE NEA: D-
TOWNHALL.COM ^ | 6-27-2008 | GENE LALOR

Posted on 06/27/2008 3:31:06 PM PDT by Gene Lalor

Unfortunately, that TownHall.com aricle isn't news, or shouldn’t be.

America’s public schools haven’t merely been falling behind. They’re in a freefall compared to other nations, including “developing” nations such as Romania, Belarus, et al. which, almost literally, don’t have a pot to pee in but yet succeed in educating kids far better than we do.

Thing is, it’s not news simply because it’s been going on for a generation, at least, and if anyone noticed, they haven’t said much about it, and those who try to say much about it are derided as simpleton reactionaries.

The causes of the misedumacation going on in most schools today aren’t complex. They can easily be pinned on the National Education Association, the NEA, which says on its website that, “We’re Fighting for the Right to a Great Public School” (http://www.nea.org/index.html) when, in fact, it has been the major force behind diluting curriculum, undermining traditional values, endorsing and promoting liberal thought, and pushing diversity, all at the cost of abandoning the primary role of public schools, namely to provide a good, fundamental education.

There was good reason for U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige to have called the NEA a terrorist organization a few years back. I would refer the reader to one of many simpleton reactionary articles which capsulates the problems with this socialist, terrorist organization and which concludes with the optimistic view that “there just might be hope for the future of America's schools.” http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39598

Personally, I don’t share that optimism, especially in the near term, based on my personal, obviously anecdotal observations. Those are admittedly limited to public education in the Long Island, New York area but unfortunately don’t appear to be rarities…

The level of practical and political ignorance among students these days is mind blowing. The Communist penetrated NEA has done its job well and prepared this nation for the ultimate catastrophe, the fall of Western civilization and the decent into Dark Ages II.

We’ve seen this coming for a long time. It’s the unions, the haven for ex-comminists all socialists (along with the enviromentilists).

The same thing happens to all union-dominated sectors. The auto industry was slowly driven into over-compensating the workers. I lived in Flint, MI for 30 years and watched it happen. I’ve a relative who’s on a union negotiating team for the Ford unions, who brags how they stick it to the man. It’s become uncompetitive with the outside world, and is now on it’s last legs. GM stock is down to under $2; I owned it when it was $85.

Hopefully, we’ll get enough of a backlash in public opinion for school system reform, although I doubt it because of the deteriorating values/morals in the country from creeping liberalism.

In the meantime, I go on urging everybody I can to home school if they can, and private school if they can’t. There’s a growing network of home scoolers who assist others to participate. They group together to assist those families with both parents working.

The children are what we are all about. The meaningfulness of our lives is about raising the next generation to replace us. The teacher union’s are just evil for what they’ve done to the school system.

For all clowns who think our teachers are underpaid:

I worked for a butthead manager EE we had to fire back in ‘94.

His wife was a total wasteproduct teacher who went from teaching special ed (think lowest of the low) to teaching 6th grade math.

Our manager told us she brought all the kids questions home to him for 1 1/2 years until she could do the math. That means the kids waited for a day for an answer to a simple question.

She was only paid $82K/year for an extremely short work year (182 days-10 sick days used like vacation) and those were short work days.

Both of these clowns were graduates of Columbia University.

Enuff said.

I’m a recent graduate of modern US public schools. The quality of education is abismal. Kids don’t know their history, geography, or basic math. It’s pathetic, really; while the Nutjob & Co. build nukes to detonate who-knows-where, many American students can’t even find Iran on a map!

Funny I remember my low-budget-small-town-school teaching

reading/writing/geog/history/math etc on very little money.

We had no cafeteria/activity room - only a tiny kitchen and a
miniature library. The play area was dirt and blacktop with a couple of monkey-bars and a dirt baseball “diamond” . Oh ya and we had tetherball with a cement filled tire for the anchor.

Today everything must be world-class and cutting edge or bygum the kids simply cannot learn a thing. The admin must be paid salary equal to a CEO and golly we sure we need lots of admin.

I say cut school funding by 50% and force ‘em to re-tool.

The NEA is also over-run with radical homosexuals who want to homosexualize our children.
