Does Anyone Here Know Someone That's Voting For Obama?
Personal Opinion | July 17, 2008 | 2ndDivisionVet

Posted on 06/17/2008 9:24:51 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Want to do a kind of informal poll: Does anyone here know anyone, other than a very far-lefty or an African American that is voting for the "Messiah" Obama? How can the national and state polls show Barack Obama leading when NONE of us knows anyone besides Latte Liberals, AAs and kids that are planning on voting for the guy? Hillary's supporters are going to McCain, many conservatives will "hold their nose" and pull the lever, and Appalachia and the South sure aren't Obama country. So who's answering the questions in these polls, or are they being made up out of whole cloth?

Of course, if you went by polls, "presidents" Gore and Kerry would be building their presidential libraries right about now.

Define your terms; is a “no-damn-way-I’m-voting-for-McCain” considered a vote for Obama? If so, I know LOTS of people who fit that category.

I see a few idiots with Obama ‘08 stickers on their cars. I want to run them off the road but I know that I probably shouldn’t so I don’t.

I do feel like putting a “No, no, no, God DXXX America!” bumper sticker right next to it.

The people I know who will vote for Obama would vote for anyone with a D behind his/her name.

I DO have one old friend, a Goldwater girl turned leftie, who actually likes Obama but is concerned about his national security deficits. Not sure yet how she will vote. National security is very important to her despite her leftward tilt.

Two of my dear old Dad’s best friends. Decorated Vietnam vets, both, are absolutely infatuated with Obama and are volunteering for his campaign.

I ask them how they can link arms and sing kumbayah with the same sort of (in some instances the VERY same) people who called them “baby killer” and threw dogsh*t at them getting off the freedom bird but no, the logical disconnect is total.

Meaningless slogans and gauzy promises really can sway people who should know better.

That’s fine if that’s their decision. If Hussien Obama gets elected, I’d really rather not hear their opinions if things turn as disasterous as I believe they will be.

If a person cannot figure out “a lesser of two evils,” then they probably shouldn’t be voting anyway.

I am the only male in the office where I work. Not one of the females say they are going to vote for him. Even the Democrats. What I find interesting is that EVERY ONE of them say the same thing. They are afraid of him. I think that when it comes down to it, about the only ones interested in Obama are the Kollege Kiddie Krusaders who do not work or pay taxes.

I know several professionals with advanced college degrees voting for Obama. The trend is 1) they feel he's being lied about (raised as a muslim, defense spending, etc) and 2) they are tired of Bush, the war, the economy, state of education and see McCain as more of the same.

McCain's problem is he is too liberal for conservatives and too conservative for liberals.

No blue collars for Obama though....not even blue collar dems

EXACTLY. We have an idiot niece (21) who does NOT work, goes to college, and we think her Grandfather pays for her Condo while she's at school.....clueless in other words.

Oh, yes, several. To an individual they are convinced that Bush is the worst thing ever to happen to the country (as long as you don't ask for any specifics), parrot the NPR/CNN/Indymedia line on Iraq, and are generally trapped in a Manichean little fantasy land where as long as they're against Bush they're automatically for virtue, freedom, justice, peace, and every other noble-sounding vacuity in the dictionary, of which they have sole intellectual possession. Their politics are as superficial as the nearest bumper sticker. Sheep, in short, too stupid and deluded to know they're stupid and deluded.

They want to feel virtuous, and are willing to do absolutely anything, swallow any lie, deny any truth, make any sacrifice for the warm feeling they get when their betters in the media tell them they're virtuous. And absolutely nothing makes them feel more virtuous than sneering derision directed toward mere Americans in preference to a Higher World Truth, whether it be an illusory world peace, world economic "justice", world environmental passions, world condemnation of Americans for our sins and world absolution for the enlightened. And God help us, they'll vote for Obama in droves.

My 67 year old sister will vote for him and already has since she live in Illinois. She is a celebrity-worshiping idiot. She once even said to me that she is "wild to see celebrities." Our parents spoiled her rotten and thought she was off-the-charts wonderful, but she has always been misinformed, self-obsessed, and shallow.

My brother-in-law and his wife will vote for Obama also. He is a college professor and forest-ecology researcher who is brilliant in his field, but flaky enough to say things that come across as astoundingly stupid. His wife is an artist. She will say she needs five minutes to get ready to go somewhere, and she will disappear into the bathroom for an hour or more, and I am not exaggerating. I was astonished the first time she did it.

Obama's kollege kidz are all ignorant fools.

They have neither served their country in the military nor have they truly held the reigns of responsibility (IE... Paying taxes, working 40+ hours a week, providing for a family, etc.)

I believe it was Plato who proposed democracy with certain requirements of each person before he/she could vote.

There was a time in American history where a person had to prove they owned property before he/she was allowed to vote.

Now we have illegal aliens, pot heads, welfare people and kollege kidz determining the future of our Republic at the ballot box.

> If a person cannot figure out “a lesser of two evils,” then they probably shouldn’t be voting anyway.

Well, I disagree with that judgment.

There are basically three ways to choose whom to vote for in a 2-party election:

  1. "Best Candidate" -- Choose "A", because "A" is a desirable candidate. Your vote is cast for someone who is worthy of it.

  2. "Lesser of Two Evils" -- Choose "A", even though they are not a desirable candidate, because "B" is even more undesirable. You are voting AGAINST someone you think is bad, but your vote is cast for someone who is not worthy of it.

  3. "They Both Suck" -- Choose neither, because neither candidate is worthy of your vote.
It is incorrect to say that the only reason a person would take option (3) is because they can't figure out (2).

Voting for the "less of two evils" is still voting for evil. There are some of us who find that sufficiently distasteful that we won't be conned into doing so simply because one evil is slightly worse than the other.

Geez Louise... I live near Ithaca, NY, the "City of Evil".

Damn near everybody in town and the colleges is voting for the Democrat. Out here in the woods, it's more sane, but less populated.

Actually, there are a few Ithacans I know who won't vote for Obama. That's because he is too right-wing for them...

No, I'm NOT kidding.

I know, ONE, and probably at least 4 more...

My BOSS, she is just”swooning” over Antichrist Obama. “he is going to bring the country together”. We need a change”. “he is just so HONEST”. (LOL..I CANNOT think of ONE honest thing he has said yet!!) And yes..she IS for gay “marriage”.(but NOT for partial birth abortion). BUT...she did NOT know about some of the “nice things” that homo “rights” will bring, such as the “bathroom and locker room” issues, and the “homosex education” to elementary students. I told her..but she did NOT believe me...

BUT...I am still “working on her”. We have somewhat of a friendship , and she respects my opinion, and enjoys political discussions with me. In FACT..she likes to talk to nearly EVERYONE about politics..(NOT me, anymore at least.)

However..she has 4 daughters and ALL of them are liberals, and most likely a lost cause. BUT..they were the LAST election too—as was SHE.

> Oh yes, the Cynthia McKinney Green Party vote.

I'll tell ya something.... those people are more scary than I am by a fair stretch, and I'm the one who lives out in the woods with a pickup truck and a gun.

Honest to God, some of those people would happily and knowingly vote for a Communist.

It pisses me off no end that their vote counts as much as mine.

It pisses me off even more that there isn't a candidate in either major party who is worthy of my vote, so I am forced by my conscience to vote for someone worthy, but who (barring a miracle) can't win.

And it pisses me off the MOST that living in New York State, the awful drag-weight of NY City is such that my state will go for the Democrat no matter what I do. My vote is moot already.

The one upside is that lets me vote my conscience without even a smidgeon of guilt.

Truth. People see Obama as a shaking up of the old system, which the mainstream media tells them is bad. I know the housing debacle is still upon us and Iraq isn’t really defined yet, but...here are the Obama supporters...

1. High school seniors and college kids, like mullets in the 1980’s, you have to be “with it” to have friends and a sex life, so “change” is good, based on their recent and current Communist indoctrination by our schools and colleges.

2. One-issue Liberals - the Gay marriage crowd, the abortion-on-demand seekers, environmental global warming Algore gangsters, ERA/Title IX/Women’s rights (see gays) crewcut people and the Code Pink Anti-War peaceniks

3. Hamas, Hizbollah, PLO, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, The Taliban and other partakers in the religion of peace.

4. The welfare recipients who will avoid more (any) taxation, have more quotas built into the workplace and colleges for them...more free services and “change” meaning taxpayer change in their pockets from the “rich” who keep them in poverty as clearly, they are not responsible for themselves. He will fix their problems for one small vote.

I hold my nose and vote McCain.

Northern California too...these people WANT to tax themselves to death for the UN...but appeasement is what Haight Street and Neville Chamberlain are, not facing reality that you need to fight for your way of life, not just buy a dime bag and go to concerts.

My area is solid Dem...but a few of us are privately conservative and push for our wives to at least vote for McCain. I usually use the Obama abortion view.
