Who couldn't love Bush? He is so willing to make fun of himself, and allow others to do so without carrying a chip on his shoulder. He did a nice recap of past dinners and the commentary and slides were hilarious. Best is when he conducted the Marine Band tonight. Wow! The normally stuffy press were clapping and enjoying it all. And featured entertainer Craig Ferguson is really funny. He just became a U.S. citizen. This is enjoyable, just sorry it is Dubbya's last one.

Funny Bush lines: "Sorry I am a bit sleepy tonight...the WH red phone rang at 3:oo a.m. It was the da** wedding planner!

I noticed there were no presidential candidates here tonight. McCain is distancing himself from me, like others, including my daughter who is leaving. Hillary couldn't get in because of sniper fire. And Obama is at church."

Craig Ferguson said: "Most of you people don't know me. I am the late night host on CBS. I am all they could afford...after paying Katie Couric."

Later he showed funny Rumsfield clips...mock clips Rumsfield making paper airplanes, drawing a pictue of a donkey's behind, rolling a joint...etc while being asked questions by the press corps. All in good fun.

I loved “Saving Grace”. Craig was wonderful and it was a great Movie.
So now he get’s to be a foreign National maligning Bush.

Since when do we care what others think.

The New Castrati.

Craig sucked and so do most of the hideously untalented and homely people in this room!

Did you see the “Red Carpet” dance?

YEEECCCCHHH!

I thought he was pretty funny. Did you hear what he said about the NY Times?

Has the camera found Pamela Anderson. She’s supposed to be there. She was on Larry King SHow last night. I could only take about 5 minutes of that. She said she’s voting for Obama because her kids like Obama.

An encounter on Connecticut Avenue

This evening, I attended a reception hosted by National Review in advance of tonight’s White House correspondents dinner. Outside the hotel, I saw protesters holding signs excoriating the MSM for its sometimes treacherous behavior, including the reckless publication of highly sensitive material to the possible detriment of our national security.

One of the protesters recognized me. He was a high school classmate, Steve Rosenthal. Steve had driven up from Roanake, Virginia where he now resides, a four hour trip. Bless him.

Steve introduced me to some of the fellow protesters, who turned out to be from Free Republic. They seemed happy to meet me, and took justified pride in the fact that it was Free Republic (through “Buckhead”) that first questioned the authenticity of the documents Dan Rather used in his report on President Bush’s National Guard service.

However, the blogger they said they really wanted to meet was Michelle Malkin. I don’t blame them.
