Information Warfare, CNN & Hillary
The New Media Journal ^ | December 5, 2007 | Lance Fairchok

Posted on 12/05/2007 4:35:52 AM PST by NewMediaJournal

One of the fundamental objectives of information warfare is to gain dominance of the information environment, to shape it in such a way that you control the messages your target audience sees. It also means pushing messages that undercut an opponent’s advantage wherever and whenever possible. Getting the message out is often the most difficult task. Using the press and the media, both print and broadcast are the most efficient and effective. Our military stresses that the truth is the best message. In Iraq, this means showing the Iraqis that Al Qaeda is their enemy; that democracy will bring prosperity and security, and of course pointing out the true nature of Islamic Fundamentalist terrorism. In domestic American politics, it is not that simple.

The latest GOP debates, hosted by CNN, revealed an insidious brand of political information warfare, one where the press and a political party conspire to deceive the American people. CNN denies wrongdoing of course, excusing a blatant setup as an oversight. Do not believe it. At every step, at every level, there was collusion and coordination with Democrat Party strategists to diminish the impact of the Republican candidates, to paint Republicans as fringe and to obscure their message. The Democrats will react with outrage and indignation at this accusation. The louder and more strident the denial, the more likely it will silence the accuser, and the more obvious it becomes that the denial is just another tactic.

It was a Democrat information warfare triumph, made possible by its allies in CNN and the naiveté of the Republican Party.

The “oversight” argument might be more believable if a single Republican questioner had appeared at the Democrat debate.

Exactly...We are not the brightest lights on the national scene. They even voted in the Senate as part of the 100-0 vote to stage a sham trial for Bill Clinton. Talk about dumb people, we have them.

Blame the RNC, and Republican/Conservative pols if you want, but it is their constituency, ie, Republican/Conservtaive voters, who insist on voting for namby pamby, sissy nice guys, perfect, polling well, conventional and acceptable to pundits, with every election.

The media propaganda works, even when we know its there, and I include influences from righwing news, and talk shows also.

We simply do not use our gut and common sense anymore in voting, we vote as if we have someone looking over our shoulders and judging us.

The voting booth is private, and I think its time to remember that, and vote for real men not robots.

Bravo to Lance Fairchok. Great summary of current events.

CWII ping. A great summary of the information war being fought against us.

I find that I have no interest in voting for a candidate so stupid as to let the enemy run their debate.

For certain they will let the enemy run their administration as well.

Political correctness - it will be the death of us if we don't get over it.

Informed and aware conservatives in this country have long known that the vast majority of the "popular media" has functioned as a de facto propaganda arm of the DNC. As the years have pressed on, their hubris and arrogance has grown to where it is now so utterly apparent that even those who have not be watchful are taking note.

There doesn’t seem to be a second party.

Precisely. All else follows from that simple, direct and utterly correct statement.

And how would the candidates not be “so stupid” in a debate someone is running? Review the questions in advance to see if they are legit or enemy made?

Who controls the terrain controls the battle. Oldest lesson in warfare.

I don't get the sense that anyone on the Republican side appreciates the full import of what was attempted here. This isn't one or two ringers attempting to disrupt the flow, it was a deliberate and concerted effort to frame the debate in terms advantageous to the Democratic party.

We've been complaining about media bias for years now and still CNN is able to convince the RNC to allow it to take on the role of neutral mediator. It should be clear from this incident that the bias isn't a figment of the imagination of fringe bloggers, but a geniune and malignant trend in journalism that is overlooked at the peril of its opponents. And it does have opponents, and we're them.

When you let CNN run your debate you might as well let the Chinese or Muslims run it.
