According to USINFO, a website "produced and maintained by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Information Programs", President George Bush said in an October 4, 2007 Arab television program that Islam is a "great religion that preaches peace."
According to World Net Daily, Bush made the statement "in an interview with Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi."
The U.S. Department of State website also stated, "The president said he does not believe that those who murder innocent men, women and children for political objectives are 'religious people,' whether they be suicide bombers in Iraq or self-proclaimed Christians such as Timothy McVeigh, who killed 168 people in a 1995 bombing in Oklahoma City."
When did Timothy McVeigh claim to be a Christian? The Muslim leaders in America have also tried to make the point that McVeigh was a Christian. But there is no evidence that McVeigh was a Christian or ever claimed to be a Christian. He did not justify his actions from the teachings of Jesus Christ or anything in the Bible.
So now it seems President George Bush has bought into the Muslim lie that Timothy McVeigh stated that he was a Christian or lived like he was a Christian.
The comparison of McVeigh as a Christian to Muslims who commit acts of violence has no basis. For example the 9/11 killers claimed to be Muslims, they justified their actions with references to the Quran and the life and teachings of Mohammed, and prayed in a number of mosques in the U.S. They considered their actions to be an act of jihad, which is a major theological tenant of Islam. This is why it makes sense for people to associate the 9/11 killers as Muslims.
Timothy McVeigh was never a Christian and never claimed to be one either.
Mr. President, please wake up!

I think I figured Bush out. We are underestimating him. I think he knows exactly what he’s doing, and he doesn’t really believe Islam is peaceful. I think he is trying to support Muslims as much as he can to make them feel good, and try to convince as many as he can that the US is not at war with islam. With this method, he can probably prevent a small percentage of attacks against US troops while they are still in harms way in Iraq (or at least not enflame Muslims even more by saying negative things about them).

certainly not the terrorists, but the general population needs to hear words that show no hostility toward them. Believe it or not, millions of Muslims throughout the Mid-East would like peaceful, productive lives and are looking to the US to help make that happen.
Of course, the terrorist groups try hard to keep the populace fearful of the future.

Timothy McVeigh violated the Two Great Commandments of Christianity, while Islamic terrorists fulfill the vision of their founder.
There are terrorists who want control of Iraq, there are insurgent terrorists who just want the US to leave, and then there are Jihadists who come from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, and even the UK. The Jihadists believe that the US is at war with Islam, and they feel they are summoned by Allah to fight those who declare war on Islam, or kill Muslims in any country. If Bush even said something like ‘we are at war with radical islam’, you’d have an inlfux of thousands more Jihadists who ordinarily might have decided to stay home, but had just another motivation.

Bush does not give a rat's ass about religion. He just panders to religionists. He pandered to the Christians to get elected. He panders to the Muslims to keep them off guard. He is more interested in holding the Oligarchy together than about the interests of religionists.
Right now the oligarchy is more worried about Muslims than anybody else. They don't like large unified groups who can undermine them. So you get sex on American TV, schools, and in the City to unbalance Christians (and Muslims). And, you get American forces to fight the Muslims (to actually hold them in check). He admits more Muslims as refugees to further unbalance the little people. The oligarchy needs to keep the little people disorganized so they don't create problems for the oligarchy. The whole of American society has turned into the oligarchy managing the chaos among the poor, middle class, upper middle class and the wealthy (where the oligarchy resides) We are too distracted to notice them as they steal vast amounts from the Treasury.
In the early Crusades, European royalty (the elite) rallied the little people to protect the property of the royals. Religion was simply a way to motivate the peasants. We are seeing a repeat of History. The Muslims are coming to conquer and take the property from the royals as spoils of conquest. The elite want to protect their property. Remember, they own more than half of everything. Bush is one of the elite, an American Aristocrat. By saying Islam is a religion of peace, he stifles American dissent and puts the passion of the little people in check, so he thinks. When Bush is saying, "Islam is a Religion of Peace," he is coming close to telling us to eat cake. We may not be as poor as French Peasants, but the disparity in what we see and what we are told amount to the same.

Hostility?! Hell, the West is bending forward and backward to please Muslims without asking for reciprocity of Christians in Muslim countries. What else do they expect? That the West kiss their asses? It’s already happening.
Maybe it preaches peace if you’re a muslim male. But not if you’re a woman or a Jew, or an “infidel”, (a non believer). they are treated lower then dogs, in fact they are not even considered human beings to a muslim man.
What the heck is Bush smoking?
This is why they hide their people and supposedly "protect" them from the outside world. This is why they want to destroy us. The rest of the world is upon them be it through commerce or geography. They have every reason to be afraid that their reign of terror will soon come to an end.
