We continue to watch the 2007 "Next Food Network Star" series and so far it's been great fun.

Also, right along, we're watching "Hell's Kitchen" and fun? Not so much.

With pics you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

Hell’s Kitchen is the ONLY reality-based program I’d watch. Personality doesn’t help keep you on. Skill, precision, and a very high quality do. Little escapes the Chef’s eye, and he’s very clear about it when someone disappoints.
Think of how hard you work at your job. Now think about it when you have a crazy brit screaming at you and your group to improve performance NOW.

HK is great! Ramsey’s eye did miss the one gal who tried to serve pasta that she’d dug out of the garbage. At least she fessed up, but only after she’d been caught. Sickening. Just another reason I don’t like eating out.

Well....I kinda like Hell’s Kitchen. Kinda.

I think the Food Network is much more informative for the home cook and that’s where I’m coming from.

I’ve never been a big believer that screaming and deriding someone somehow makes them do a better job.

But hey, I could be wrong. I’d never work under those conditions though. Never had to, never will.

My post has a long explanation and theory about that spaghetii thing if you haven’t checked it out.

With all the hundreds of hours of film from several cameras, every little thing that goes on in the kitchen is bound to be caught on tape. I believe Jen did this totally on her own. You might serve it to your kids, but I certainly wouldn’t.

Yes. I saw that. I think she fessed up because she knew he’d see the tapes from the day and blow a gasket on her the next morning. But at least she did fess up.

we love watching hell’s kitchen. and, yes, personality
alone will not see you through to the end. like chef
ramsey always says, it’s all about consistancy.

Heck, I used to go camping a lot, when the kids were little. We cooked every meal over an open fire or on a grill. Many a hot dog fell in the charcoal, and got washed off and replaced. Trout fell onto the hot burning logs, got pulled out and reset on the grill top. Food fell on the ground and we all just ‘blew’ on it to make sure it was ‘safe’. Our hands were dirty, the food got sand in it.

........and we survived.

And, one Thanksgiving, my mom was stuffing the turkey, early in the morning. I was chopping celery for the dressing. I knew the second she picked up that bird by the legs, what was about to happen. Her hands had oil on them, as did the whole bird. That turkey went flying accross the kitchen floor like a jet ski. She just walked over, picked it up, rinsed it off, stuffed and cooked it, and no one was the wiser.

.......and we survived.

I couldn’t/wouldn’t work under this chef. Screaming, yelling obscenities, kicking people out, throwing food - the guy’s a nut case. (.........I wouldn’t survive.)

But, I love the show. ;-]
