Arlen Specter: The Phony Republican
The New Media Journal ^ | March 21, 2007 | Tony Phyrillas

Posted on 03/21/2007 10:31:55 AM PDT by NewMediaJournal

His current term isn't up until 2010, but "Snarlin' Arlen" Specter announced he plans to run for a sixth term in the U.S. Senate.

"There are a lot of important things to be done and finally after being here to acquire some seniority, I'm in a position to do that," the 77-year-old Specter told the Associated Press. "I'm full of energy and my wife doesn't want me home for breakfast, lunch and dinner."

If he wins in 2010, Specter will be 86 by the time his term ends. That's kind of young for the geriatric Senate, where Robert Byrd, the former KKK grand wizard and Democratic leader, continues to serve into his 90s. This is also the legislative body where Strom Thurmund served until he was 100.

I don't have a problem with Specter's age. I have a problem with Specter running as a Republican.

Specter is the poster child for the term RINO (Republican In Name Only).

He is a back-stabbing liberal Democrat who has worked against Republican legislation for decades. His is pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-taxes, pro-illegal immigration, pro-gay rights. And nobody knows where he stands on the war on terror.

"I'm full of energy and my wife doesn't want me home for breakfast, lunch and dinner." Hey Arlene, if your own wife doesn't want you then why should the GOP want you around for 8 more years?

Just another perfect example of why 2 terms is more than enough.

Last time, GWB intervened to see that Arlen MacSpecter was reelected. Perhaps this time around G-D will intervene to see that he isn't.

Remember, being a republican isn't based on a candidate's beliefs. It's based on if a candidate can win an election with an R next to their name. The alternate qualification for being a republican is if that person is 'less evil' than the Dem. Candidate.

I couldn't believe the saps in PA re-elected him last time. It wouldn't suprise me if they did it again.

Sadly, this RINO might have been defeated in the last Republican primary if not for the efforts of Bush and Rick Santorum.

It's yet another example of what a disaster it is for conservatives to support RINOs for office.

An apt description of Arlen. He took the baton from Warren Rudman and has probably surpassed Rudman in his back-stabbing ways.

"There are a lot of important things to be done and finally after being here to acquire some seniority, I'm in a position to do that,"

You really must remember add that "/sarc" tag. People might get confused and think he's talking about reality.

I don't want term limits. I want to impose them through voting. I wanted the right to vote for Rick Santorum for as long as possible. He was too good to turn out after two terms, which is why he was targeted by the MSM.

I've never been all that happy with Specter, yet, many times after a lot of public statements to the contrary, he votes with the Republicans. He just needs to keep his mouth shut more. I would much rather have Rick in his seat.

The only thing more dysfunctional than AS is his staff...especially on the Judiciary Committee. Nothing but a bunch of unprofessional, slimy little punks there for nothing more than to punch their tickets. While Rome was burning for the Senate Republicans last Fall this collection of chuckleheads and losers were floating the idea of holding a hearing on "Dog The Bounty Hunter."
