Women's Rights, J. Scott Davis for Congress

In my run for Congress (California's 48th District U.S. House Representative), I wish to support a women's right to "equal pay for equal work." This right was put into law with the "Equal Pay Act of 1963." Most women will tell you that they do not possess significant equality of equal pay compared to men doing the same job.

I'd like to see the many corporate businesses of the 48th District set an example of gender equity for women.

I took the liberty of looking at your freeper about page.

I have a few questions for you:

1. You have been employed with a Law Firm in L.A. / Orange County.

Q. What law firm was it, how long were you there, and in what capacity?

2. You are interested in corporations and social issues.

Q. In concrete terms, how will you distinguish yourself from Ralph Nader, or from Jesse Jackson?

3. You claim "it's a woman's body, it's her right to choose", but you are against late term abortions.

Q1. At what point does a late-term "product of conception" differentiate itself from the woman's body?
If you answered "when it achieves viability", should the existing laws change to reflect the greater technological ability to support life outside the womb?
Q2. (To quote from the movie Toy Story "All right! Double Prizes!"). What is your position on the Terry Schaivo case? Did you support the conduct of the Judge in the case? No weaseling please, you claimed to work for a law firm...

3. Do you have any position papers? What other Republican politicians are you most in agreement with? Give examples.

4. As someone who has only been on Free Republic for a week or two, have you ever been ZOTTED?

Cheers!

I was in a role similar to a law student clerking at law firm during the summer, although I wasn't in law school. I helped prepare evidence for courtroom display, billed clients, photocopied, and delivered mail, etc. Since I owned a Corvette, the lawyers loved using me to chaffuer them around town. I also worked for an attorney service and was sent out to research for this law firm and deliver subpoenas and documents, etc. This law firm and attorney service were both in the Irvine, CA. business district. I'll decline in stating their name at this time.

Well, Jesse Jackson opposed the opening of a Walmart in Los Angeles, but I would think that the store would have provided hundreds of jobs for needy citizens. In addition, it would heeelp to generate the local economy. Ralph Nader, the Green Party liberal, is wasting his time in politics, but the consumers thank him.

Terri Shiavo's life should have been saved. If her husband abanonded her and the parents were willing to provide for her, they should have been permitted to gain custody of her. That case made me furious. I believe that the whole issue became a battle of ego and jurisdiction between judges and politicians. I spoke out in lobbying to save her life.

My political heroes are Ronald Reagan, John McCain, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and George W. Bush (for standing up for what he believes is in the best interests of Americans). I also admire Tony Blair. I wish Jesse Ventura was more to the right because he is someone I lookup to as well. I firmly believe that the Democrats have no agenda other than the wish to possess power.

I share the same philosophy as President Bush does on abortion. It's a woman's choice, but we both oppose late term abortions.

I probably missed a question or point you wanted me to address, but this message is getting to long.

My political heroes are Ronald Reagan, John McCain,

You sound very disjointed. I'm not sure you have a fully developed political philosophy. How do you plan to ensure equal pay for the ladies? Is it really the place of government to force such issues? Are you just using this as a stunt to get dates?

Myself and JScott had a lengthy discussion on the issue you raised in question number three, the topic of abortion and pro-choice statements on his FR home page. Those exchanges can be found on that other thread at POST 87...POST 131...POST 141...POST 142...POST 143

I do not believe this stance is the same as George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan. Reagn's excellent article, Abortion and the conscience of the Nation should be read and taken to heart by anyone using his name as their icon/hero.

You say is it the government's position to enforce such issues? Yes, I'm seeking government office.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I'm concerned with helping enforce human rights issues and you accuse me of that?

Jeff; I'll repeat. In countries where abortion is illegal,
just as many abortions are performed on the black market. Without government supervision, many unlicensed individuals are performing the abortion. Thus, a medical nightmare.

In addition, more consideration should be given to women on this issue. It's their body and their right to choose. We men can't always understand the psychological ramifications that confronts women.

I only support an early term abortion as a last resort. I oppose late term abortion.

Sorry...as I said, we disagree fundamentally.

The reasons you espouse are the exact talking points of Planned Parenthood and the liberal left on this particular issue.

Irrepsective of what you have said...killing a human fetus in the wound, literally ripping it limb from limb, is not the answer. That is a holocaust and leads to the culture of death we see spreading in our society.

The answer is education, both about the sanctity of sexual intercourse and the respobnsibility and accountabilty associated with it, education about the price promiscuity costs in society, both in terms of health care and emotional and mental care...and then punctuating the accountability and responsibility in law (as it used to be) for those who kill the unborn. That's the answer...not giving in to the idea that well, it's unwanted, let's just be done with it and kill it. Becasue that is exactly what is happening.

You indicate that Ronald Reagan is one of your heroes. Please consider reading (from the link I supplied above) his speech, "Abortion and the conscience of the Nation".

..... and where do YOU draw the line- condom, the pill, early term abortion, or late term abportion?

I believe that my philosophy is psychologically, medically, morally, and legally appropriate. Only early term abortions should be permitted in general and as a last resort. I'll remind you that in countries where abortion is illegal, just as many are performed on the black market. The medical ramifications here are tragically enormous.

Also, a woman should have much more of a say in the issue than you and me. It's her body, not our's.

Thank you,

You're seeking office in California, so I'm sure your policies of killing babies and government interference in private business will go over well there.

LOL. If Berkley is in your district, you might as well go on and get the "Congressman J. Scott Davis" nameplates made up.

You do not appear to share many views with Ronald Reagan, so perhaps you should just stick with the John McCain hero worship.

Most women will tell you that they do not possess significant equality of equal pay

That's a crock. Would you legislate exceptions when a woman refuses to work overtime or wont take assignments because of her kids or takes 6 months off for every pregnancy and so on? Are you a central power enthusiast? Youre going to sit in some place and tell businesses what raises to give?

You sound like a socialist central planner.
