I'd think the common ancestor doesn't exist because all the members died off after the ape and human ancestors arose.

I'm not sure why you have such a problem understanding that.

Or that you are unable to answer a question in a straightforward manner.

Less so than arrogant derision is a requisite for filling the logical gaps and promoting macroevolution theory. You're probably not aware of the fact that you're simply following a traditional strategy that was deliberately concocted by "Darwin's Bulldog" (Huxley) to quell public scrutiny of macroevolution theory. That tactic trickled down through our education industry, and you're blindly going along. Does that make you "ignorant"?
