"Your In Good Hands With Allstate" is there motto. Sounds like a great place to be, right? Wrong.
David Gibbs III, Terri Schiavo’s former attorney, is preparing for a new foray into America’s intense Culture War. This time the battle will take place on the "same-sex marriage" front, and his adversary will be Chicago based Allstate Insurance Company.
Gibbs has introduced to America his most recent client — J. Matt Barber.
Barber is a former five-year employee of Allstate at their corporate headquarters in Northbrook, IL. According to associates with Gibbs Law Firm in Seminole FL, Matt was recently, expressly, and illegally fired by Allstate for writing and publishing an opinion-editorial at home, on his own time, about so-called "same-sex marriage."
In the Op-Ed, Barber defended the sanctity of marriage, and pointed out what he views as the negative aspects of both same-sex marriage, and the homosexual lifestyle — views he says are deeply rooted in his religious beliefs, and supported by clear Biblical principles.
Gibbs has filed a federal lawsuit against Allstate, on behalf of Barber, for religious/viewpoint discrimination, and retaliation in violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Depends on how it's phrased. We're not a total police state, by any means or stretch of the imagination, but then again, the Hate Crime laws are quite opporessive, especially in regards to free speech.

Anyone who would buy Allstate insurance is really courting disaster. They don't pay. Period.
They also need to learn the difference between their, they're and there, as in "there motto". Do they mean that there motto?! LOL
I heard about this. Mr. Barber didn't include his place of employment in his opinion piece as he wasn't speaking on their behalf, but the periodical added it without his permission or knowledge.
That was indeed the situation. Which has, in and of itself, all sorts of disturbing implications for legal liability...
That's news to me. They paid for repairs to my car and I've been very happy with their insurance -- up until now.
Look what David Gibbs III is doing now. Once again, standing up for the rights of an individual who's being taken advantage of by powerful people. He stood up for what is right on behalf of Terri Schiavo, and now he's standing up for what's right on behalf of J. Matt Barber. Gibbs is a man of good character.
They are notorious for waffling on claims. We lived in Minnesota in 1988 when a pair of big hail storms went through the Twin Cities, wrecking hundreds of roofs in the south metro. The newspapers did a running survey of who had trouble with coverage and who didn't. We had St. Paul Fire and Marine and they wrote checks for everything at 100 percent of replacement. A couple down from us with Allstate got half their roof re-shingled.
He does indeed seem to be a man of good character.
