Daycare-raised children generally don't start taking Meth or engage in rape and mayhem until they're a wee bit older than 5.

I think you are absolutely correct.

I read post #7, and don't find it applicable...in somewhat of the same manner that savedbygrace didn't find the article applicable to my earlier comments.

And with respect to savedbygrace's response to me, no, I agree that the article doesn't suggest that sort of correlation. My reaction is based partly on frustration from feeling as though I'm being told that I am a sub-standard mother because I work full time. My admittedly anecdotal post was also partly based upon the article's anecdotal evidence. I think it's crap.

I see my daughter in the morning and evening(she commutes with me, her daycare is a couple blocks from my office), we eat dinner together every night, and we read and play together before she goes to bed. I am completely UNconflicted about our situation, because I know she is happy, intelligent, well-adjusted, and healthy.

Dah Nile isn't just a river in Egypt.

LOL!

That is major league sad, skylark. If you don't mind me being nosy, how old are you?

Howard Dean has already proposed a new cabinet member, Secretary of Babysitting.

True, however you can definitely recognize behavioral problems that result in that kind of criminal behavior arising as early as toddlerhood. Children's fundamental natures don't change all that much between 5 and 15.

Wow, I'm LOL too, but I'm guessing it's for an entirely different reason than you are.

Absolutely. Children need a stay at home mother.

Yes, or *at the very least* a stay-at-home father. But that's been discussed on a different thread. :-)

You seem to be one of the mothers who can "do it all."

Congraulations.

We probably also agree we are not talking stay at home *welfare* mothers.

I think that's great. My wife decided that it was best to be a SAHM and homeschool our children. It's tough on one income, but the rewards of raising our children the way they should be raised is infinitely rewarding. God bless your efforts.

I am completely UNconflicted about our situation,

Your comments had me thinking. I once met this redneck who boasted about how he liked to smack his kids around with a belt, forced them to "box" with him, etc. He justified it by saying that his kids seemed to be turning out okay.

Some people who do rotten things feel guilty about it, while others try to justify their conduct in some manner.

Which category are you in?

Well, if you have no conflict of the heart regarding the matter, then you are one of those rare birds who would rather be working than taking care of your child.

That is one of the most absolutely vile things anyone has ever said to me. The fact that you know virtually nothing about me or my family makes it even worse. I'm wondering where your moral high ground comes from with regard to horrible behavior.

No, I do both, and I like doing both.

Looks like you're a wee bit "conflicted" after all. LOL.

Right. And given the choice, you would continue to work and spend before and after with your child. Like I said, most women (given the choice) would rather spend their time with their children.
