The election is barely a week old and already the Democratic spin machine is in full force attempting to explain, for those of us who they deem "intellectually challenged", why Bush won this election. The word "morality" keeps creeping up in many of the editorials I read. The new mantra of the wounded Democratic elite seems to be that Republicans have gained a foothold in the use of the word "morality". They argue that they, the Democrats, have always been the party of morals; after all, they champion issues of the poor and disenfranchised. They make love, not war, and they preserve the rights of Americans to choose whatever lifestyle suits them, regardless of its affects on society. Nice try.
Democrats will soon begin to re-define morals in light of their view of society and the larger world. Their elite philosophy, birthed and nurtured in the halls of liberal educational institutions around the country, and in the liberal strongholds they live and work in, is and always has been in direct opposition to the morality of what has been deemed "Red America", or by some particularly rare birds of hate, "Jesusland". Morality to most Americans is rooted in religion and common sense (hence the Jesusland reference). When mentioned in the mainstream press it usually refers to issues such as abortion, gay marriage, abstinence, pornography and a host of other sensitive issues rooted in deep conviction. This traditional definition of morality as is pertains to political policy will soon be re-vamped in an extreme left attempt to hi-jack what they cannot embrace. They know they need a morality card in their deck of trick cards, but the traditional definition will not work for this group. As with most of the extreme left hi-jacks of the past, they will mold and re-define, through talking points and rhetoric, the definition of morality so that it can become their cause to champion.
The problem with this notion is that the extreme left Democratic approach to the issues they champion as "their" moral issues, is not moral! They love to talk about the poor, yet rather than helping the poor person find a way out of poverty, they keep them in their plight year after year, generation after generation, by giving them a hand out, not a hand up. They are then told by their far left opportunistic community and ethnic leaders that "the man" and "corporate America" is the cause for their plight, and not the choices they have made. Those who are poor through no fault of their own are encouraged to remain on the government payroll. Is this moral?
The extreme left is a champion of "peace" and avoiding conflict. The moral lapse in their philosophy comes, not in the desire for peace, but in their complete inability to do ANYTHING, even in the face of the starkest evil. Sadaam Hussein is coddled and treated as nothing more than a regional leader of a people who could never embrace freedom. It is America who is evil in their eyes for dropping bombs on innocent civilians. Nevermind that these same people have relatives in mass graves and torture houses all across Iraq. They forget that these sadistic madmen raped newly wed brides on their wedding day and then shot the groom for protesting. I ask again, is it moral to turn a blind eye to this? And please drop the tired "no weapons of mass destruction, Bush lied" battle cry. We all know the entire world agreed that the weapons were there.
Lets talk about extreme left educational policies. I have an intimate knowledge of the current public school system and I will tell you that extreme left policies are RAMPANT in this world and are absolutely decimating the education of our children, especially in the inner cities of America. In these schools where parents don't care and children have no father, teachers are presented with children who are out of control. I have a teacher acquaintance that had a student removed from class in hand-cuffs just yesterday. Why? Because the political correct dogma of "time-out" and "reasoning with children" have replaced the strong arm of discipline and rendered teachers as nothing more than babysitters to unruly children. How can we expect our teachers to teach if the inmates are running the asylum? Maybe we should ask the "moral left" why their "feel good" policies are failing our children and robbing them of an education.
I could go on and on all day but I think the point has been made. Re-defining morality will be attempted but will fail, not because the extreme left doesn't know how to communicate it, but because they will communicate their positions on morality with complete clarity. Americans will see through their false morality every time because, unlike the extreme left, we don't check our heart or our deep convictions of right and wrong at the door when we make our decisions. We don't have to conjure up new and improved viewpoints on morality. We are strong, we are steady, and we are unchanged by political winds. That is something a waffling movement of extremism cannot and will never compete with, conquer or convert.
I read an editorial yesterday that basically said socialism values human need. That was the essence of it. Then it ended with a statement about our glorious "differences." Of course, she didn't mean ideological differences -- she's got big plans for all of our money, and she will never yeild until she corrupts the minds of all the children in America -- but you can bet all those sexual differences were included.
Sounder, here's the beauty of the situation...as annoying as the Damnocrates try to make it.
You cannot "spin" morality.
You cannot "redefine" morality.
You cannot "capture the high ground" on that which is moral.
Personal, private, closely held, by the heart and soul, morality. Is as core as the blood in your veins the marrow in your bones. These things are not subject to "spin" or "redefinition".
The Damnocrates think we are all like them, pliant, flexible, subject to nuance, it is the Damnocrates who fail to see that which is in front of their very faces -- frankly, I believe, because if they did, they would have no where to turn -- Americans understand when something is wrong and will not stand for it, it is against our nature to do so...we don't need nuance. We stand for what we know is right.
