I read the entire thing. It was not rambling. It merely covered a variety of topics related to the real negative consequences of an increasingly technological society.

By their definition, the MSM should label all State of the Union addresses and most bills passed by Congress as rambling.

People can analyze life in many different ways and come to some very different conclusions. However when one of those conclusions is that your mission is to live as a hermit and actually kill strangers you have come to blame for your perceived injustices, then you really do belong in a maximum security prison forever.

I'm not arguing that Kaczynski belongs somewhere other than where he is. My point about him is that, especially in the run up to the Bush v. Gore election in 2000, many on the right cherry picked some lines of his manifesto to compare with lines from Gore's "Earth in the Balance." Yes those lines were in there, but in general context, Kaczynski blamed many of society's ills on the radical left, and that's plainly obvious to those who have actually read his manifesto.

Kaczynski's IQ was reported to be 167, and I think there is little doubt he was a mathematical genius. He may very well have had the ability to connect the dots and see where technology was going and how it would impact personal liberties to the point it has today and will most likely continue to do so, and he was pointing this out 30-40 years ago.

But obviously randomly targeting strangers was not going to prevent it, and even if he had been able to specifically target Dorsey and Zuckerburg's moms, the thought of punishment for "precrime" should be abhorrent to any lover of freedom...even if, ironically, it might result in the loss thereof.

It's kind of like the old, "If you could go back in time and kill Hitler as a child" conundrum.

Kaczynski's actions were wrong, of course. But I'm not so sure his analysis of the trajectory of high tech and concurrent repression of personal liberty was that far off.
