Rather than “volunteer” info about “leaving the Clinton’s alone” his prudent response should have been to let the Justice Dept, FBI and Congress do their jobs and take the course that is required by law.

I have tweeted my various disagreements/disappoints regarding Romney to @realdonaldtrump since I first heard this.

I’m certain that Romney will betray Donald Trump.

Next thing we know, Trump's going to name Hillary as secretary of the Treasury or something. "She's been through enough, and she has a lot to contribute" or some such nonsense.

So far he's waffled on deporting illegals, draining the swamp, climate change, enhanced interrogation techniques... and who knows what else.

By the time inauguration rolls around, his positions will be unrecognizable as compared with his campaign positions.

Making things worse, he seems to want to make nice with the NYT. I understand they're a "NY institution" and all that... but he needs to realize he'll never regain the cozy relationship he once had with them as a non-politician.

Mitt Romney was in charge of the 2002 Winter Olympics, including security that shortly after the 9/11 attacks. He handled it well, appointing the best available people and overseeing performance. He may have been asked for insights on security for the inauguration. Or just invited in to get everybody talking...

“Bad Judgement. BAD trend. BAD direction.”

If he chose Romney, he’d betray us and the politicians and pundits who were loyal to him during the campaign. He’d be breaking a promise. Ditto if he lets the Clinton Crime Family skate. (I hope lets someone else deal with that.)

It would be a BAD move. Maybe those who grow up in privilege didn’t learn the etiquette that we in the “real world” learned, i.e., “Ya gotta dance with the one what brung ya.”

You are absolutely right. Had Trump lost the election, the GOPe gloaters would be all over the place crowing about how right they were and how the party strayed away from its “roots”, and that only they should be entrusted with rebuilding the party. That should never be forgotten.

Now that they’ve lost, these same people will work tirelessly to worm their way into the new administration to find ways to undermine Trump. He must not allow them to get a foothold.

The fact that Priebus, Romney and now Nikki Haley appear to be getting inside, the prospects for a conservative Trump administration are not looking so bright. I fear we may be getting a little ahead of ourselves in our enthusiasm.

I sent a no-to-Romney message also. Just bear in mind that if he’s chosen, Romney serves at Trump’s behest. Step out of line and he’s fired. There’s a certain humor/irony on it, actually. Romney’s principled, concientious NeverTrumpism folded like a cheap suit the instant he spotted political gain for himself. The very fact that he’d allow Trump to consider him turns Romney into a joke.

What’s more, if he gets the gig, he wakes up each day knowing he must kowtow to Trump. Step out of line, and Trump utters his famous words.

Romney friend: Whatcha doing today, Mitt?

Romney: Whatever Trump tells me to do.

Friend: Hehe. You’re kidding, right?

Romney: Uh, I gotta go. I think I just heard Trump snap his fingers. See you later...if Trump says it’s okay.

I agree with you to a point about the position Romney’s put himself in.

However, betrayal also includes ‘et tu Brute’.
