Egypt court orders belly dancing station off air

A court in Egypt has ordered a TV channel that airs belly dancing clips off the air for showing “sexually explicit” content and operating without a broadcast license.
The judge Saturday said that ElTet airs ads that are “offensive” and can “arouse” viewers. …

People have been warning that the fundamentalists are going to enact more and more laws like this, most of which will hurt their economy which relies heavily on tourism. Only burqa-style bathing suits will be allowed for women tourists,
alcohol will certainly be effected as it, too, would be banished from hotels, restaurants. And it isn’t out of the realm of possibility of them destroying the Sphinx, Pyramids as they did to the giant Buddha as objects contrary to Islamic belief. A leading Islamic cleric suggested the destruction of the Sphinx, Pyramids recently as being anti-Islam.
