Yes, the criminals are responsible for their actions, the 'cop' as well.

I haven't seen the Wal-Mart security video.

But, for a cop with 26 years of experience, putting himself between the car door and driver is a no no.

His actions of shooting are up in the air.

Of course he could have done the exact right thing.

But, my patience with govt workers and the protections they abuse is over.

Now, there are various lines to draw and cross out there. Was he a 'cop' when he did this? Or a paid security officer and other questions.

It is obvious the criminals are wrong, but the largest criminal is the government enterprise.

I see. He put himself in a dangerous position between the door and the driver.

That means if the driver tries to murder him with the car, he has no right to defend himself.

Got it.

Look, we don't know if the driver went forward[what was he holding onto with his free hand?], which would have done anything to the cop. Or went in reverse and injured the cop.

I look forward to the video. It will be a great learning tool for proper vehicle engagement.

1. I do not believe that shooting the driver is taught in police training as an approved method to stop a car from running over or dragging the officer. It is a way to stop a car from getting away. But if the only purpose is avoid injury to the officer himself, I doubt that any respectable police training program teaches this. Instead, I think that police officers are taught to avoid putting themselves in a position where they can be run over or dragged.

2. If I am reading this correctly, in this case the officer’s bullets did not hit the driver but instead killed a passenger who had earlier hit him and whom he was pursuing,

3. There were children in the car.

It is certainly one more criminal off the streets but I personally view the officer’s conduct as highly suspect. I think that allowing police officers to shoot and kill fleeing suspects in a case like this on the basis of the purported fear of being run over is dangerous for society and a bad thing.

We do know that he was dragged far enough to strip his shoes off against the parking lot pavement.

If you are murdered by a driver in a Walmart parking lot, just how important will it be to your children to know whether she was dragging you to your death in [D] or [R]?

Would you only defend yourself if the car was in [R]?

If it was in [D] would you let her murder you?

He needs more range time.

I’m sure there’s a being dragged to your death simulator that teaches cops to only hit the driver.

Sorry, using deadly force: ie, shooting someone, should be applied when a felony has been committed and someone’s life is on the line. That excludes someone who purposefully jumps out in front of your car and demands that you stop.

#1, The person driving wasn’t the one killed.

#2, The person killed Is innocent until proven guilty. Which she was not...

#3 It could have easily been one of the kids that were killed.

Nobody wants shoplifters to get off, but getting a license number would have been safer and accomplished the same thing without the loss of life.

Three hoodrats aren't worth a good cop in the end.

I always say, should the actions that the LEO took be taught to fellow operators as a proper technique or shown in a class as a way not to do something.

As of now, the latter.

Officers shoot, and frequently kill fleeing suspects in large numbers every day.

It is presently exactly what they are trained to do.

“Yep. If you’re a chronic felon in California we want you to clean up your act or take your felonious ways elsewhere.”

You left off the last part: “and always vote for the Democrat if you stay in Kali.”

After striking the uniformed police officer, running to avoid arrest (having already been under court order not to go into a WalMart based on past arrest/conviction) and then attempting to run over said uniformed police officer just might be considered threatening, 2d.
