Little Describes Pentagon’s Benghazi Decision Process
American Forces Press Service ^ | Nov. 2, 2012 | Jim Garamone

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2012 – Pentagon Press Secretary George Little told reporters today:

On Sept. 11, 2012, Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey and U.S. Africa Command commander Army Gen. Carter F. Ham discussed the situation in Benghazi soon after they were notified of the assault...

“There were discussions here at the highest levels including the secretary as to what kind of response we might be able to provide..

//Snipp//

Time passes. 0 heads off to bed, in the AM pauses but briefly for garden spin - then forward to Las Vegas...

Morning of the day after: The secretary ordered appropriate forces to respond, Those forces included FAST platoons from Europe, a special operations unit in Central Europe, and another contingent of U.S. troops from the United States...

Let me be clear. This department took swift action. We did respond. The secretary ordered forces to move. They simply were not able to arrive in time. DOD was preparing for a range of contingencies that day.

Panetta and Dempsy, were seen following closely behind Carter Ham in Fort Marcy Park this afternoon. All were questioned by reporter from the Washington Past, all declined comment.

It takes time to notify troops, organize them and then transport them, Little said. It also takes time to develop an intelligence picture of what they might face on the ground.

“The fact of the matter is these forces were not in place until after the attacks were over,” he said. “Let me be clear. This department took swift action. We did respond. The secretary ordered forces to move. They simply were not able to arrive in time.”

Waaah, waaah, waah. Impotent cretin.

All talk, no action, is what he's saying; all full of excuses and whining about why it couldn't be done. It's a travesty that "can do" has become "we can't, no need to even try".

“Little Describes Pentagon’s Benghazi Decision Process” as ...little. Too little. Too late.

Their actions were so disgusting both before and after they knew what was going on! I am still having problems digesting just how bad they performed their duty!

I am so disgusted with these folks that I can NOT even state it with words. My son (ex-Marine) might do better but the profanity might turn off folks here.

Oh yeah - swift action! I’d guess that you had forces in place within 2 hours at least right? You bunch of civilian criminal political creeps need to keep you mouths shut as the more you talk, the more you make yourselves to be incompetent creeps!

You folks are responsible for the deaths of four Americans and you can not escape that fact! Live with it and hopefully at least let the world know why.

Sorry, but I get so angry at this coverup that is painful! I care less about the election than I do about the coverup of Benghazi. My son was a Marine and he is aghast at this coverup! I can do no less!

This distance is roughly the same size as the Korean Peninsula. The distance from the DMZ to Seoul is 1/10 this distance. Message to the 28,000 US military personal there based on the level of readiness presented in this press release: "If anything happens, expect to be dead."

And we'll be sure to send a very strongly worded note to the Chinese.

Any time a press secretary says, “Let me be clear”, it
means all that follows is a lie!

I thought the point of a FAST team is that it is ready to go with almost no ( and I do mean next to zero...) notice. I am sooooo tired of the lies. It sickens me

Little said that within a few hours of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta ordered U.S. military forces to move to Sicily in preparation for an uncertain situation in Libya.

This doesn't wash. When the Critical Incident Report went out from the consulate in the first 30 minutes of the attack those forces would have automatically been put in motion by their force commanders in Europe.

Now I was only a LT for 5 years active duty in NavSpecWar, but it was imprinted deeply upon my brain that ONLY the PUTUS can give cross-border permission. Probably a million living ex-military officers know this like they know 2+2=4. This Benghazi fiasco is Obama’s baby 100% and there is no way for him to wiggle out.

The system is designed to ENSURE that when a crisis is happening, (and a missing ambassador with a consulate under attack is “Crisis Level Infinity”), and military assets are already charging in to the rescue, the president must be in the loop to grant the the cross-border authorization. Nobdy else can do this. This one formality must be followed, “just put your intitials here, Mr. President, for history,” so to speak. Boiler plate, but it must be done.

(Can you imagine Reagan or either Bush saying “No. Cross border permission not granted. Stop the rescue. Stand down.”)

The POTUS has to tell the Sec. State and JCS, “Yes, do it, execute the rescue, cross the borders.” Then it WILL happen, without delay, since the military is already on the way, flying in from all directions toward Benghazi.

But if POTUS says at 5pm DC time, “No military action, no cross border,” and then he becomes “unavailable,” then his last standing order stands until he changes it. So if he went to bed, for example, nobody could change his standing orders.

I imagine that a lot of extreme military, CIA and State Dept. craziness was going down while Obama was sleeping. Aircraft must be told proceed, or return to base, or they fall from the sky. I imagine many HEATED arguments around the globe on phone, text and email, subject, “Well wake the damn president up!” Followed by, “I can’t! You MUST stand down the mission!”

Just imagine dozens of inbound planes, jets and helos. Ships moving at full speed into position to be “lilypads” for long-range over-water helo refueling. Airborne refueling tankers all head to the area. It’s a complicated ballet. The Pentagon is wide awake, the military is on full alert. The rescue is in process, from the first minutes after the alarm.

Everybody in all the planes and involved HQs knows how many minutes/miles to the Libyan border, Benghazi, and their “bingo fuel” moment, when they must turn around or run dry and crash. Ships can “loiter,” but planes fall from the sky.

So you can imagine why General Ham of Africom was relieved for refusing to stand down. He probably KNEW Obama was “unavailable,” and was screaming over the phone, “Well, wake him up, dammit!!”

Planes and jets and helicopters and ships and commando teams are zooming all around the central Med, keying in on Benghazi——

And in that environment, OBAMA WAS ASLEEP AND UNREACHABLE!!!!! Resting up for Las Vegas! With a MISSING AMBASSADOR, in Al-Queadatown!

Anybody not furious is a vegetable.

Does anybody - I mean anybody actually believe any of the bullshit coming out of Washington or their surrogates?

They are both lairs and worse, lairs about the deaths of Americans!

Just how does that sit with most Americans? Are they all so oblivious to the - oh hell they are just Democrats that just don’t give a damn about Americans (especially military) dying for their cause... That is what we are facing today in America - Americans against Communists/Statists - Government control vs Capitalism!

What is wrong with people that can’t seem to see the difference? We seem to be lost... Another revolution may be in the making...

I’m surprised that more did not disobey orders than General Ham. Or will that come out later? Surely those in positions and of a mind and heart to ACT are even more furious about this than we are, knowing all the nonsense that was going on! ...and that is still going on, as we see here. Where are they all?

It’s much more than disobeying orders! It is simply honor and integrity and it seems that few have it anymore!

How can you expect anything else from the military - have we come so far that even they no longer comply with decency! Have we lost all hope?

Are we to believe that on the anniversary of 9/11, that we had ZERO contingency plans to protect Americans at our embassies? Was the only plan to go in the next day and pick up the pieces? With that kind of reasoning, we are fortunate that all/most of our ambassadors in that region were not murdered. Only imbeciles would not put proactive plans in place for a 9/11 anniversary! This is 100% on Obama’s shoulders and Hillary's political career should be over. She should kiss 2016 goodbye!!
