Felons lose their rights. And they should.

I very much disagree, especially when it is this right [arms] that is in question. Nobody should be deprived of the capability of self-defense, and it is particularly stupid to allow something that could [conceivably] be administrative in nature to do so; governments can, and will, make policies to invalidate the rights of people they do not agree with -- that in itself should be cause to be extremely hesitant about the deprivation of any right.

(Also consider legal rights, your sentiment would deny any felon the chance for legal defense in any accusation against him [the 6th Amendment].)
