As we await the U.S. Supreme Courts decision on Obamacare, some insurance companies are already telling consumers which of its many protections they will agree to honor if this historic law is thrown out [Insurers ready for Supreme Court ruling on health care, June 20].
Allowing for-profit insurance companies to decide for themselves is no answer at all. One insurer is willing to keep dependents up to age 26 on their parents policy but wont agree to eliminate pre-existing condition exclusions. Another may be willing to provide free preventive services but wont stop charging women higher premiums.
This week, we learned that 12.8 million Americans will receive an average $151 rebate this summer because of Obamacare, which requires refunds if at least 80 percent of premium dollars arent spent on medical care instead of advertising, bureaucracy and profits. Why do consumers need this protection? Because we cant depend on private insurers to price their premiums reasonably.
No one should be fooled: relying on insurance companies to stop abusive practices is no substitute for Obamacares protections.
What a moron. Would this bonehead want to require that insurers insure a house that was already on fire? If yes, then why buy fire insurance? Just wait until it starts to burn.
It is not "insurance" if the likelyhood of habing a claim is 100%.
Red Jan is not a typical rep.
