Ban the Ban Wisconsin launches "Operation Mollycoddle"

Polk County, WI (PRWEB) May 16, 2008 -- Ban the Ban Wisconsin, a nonprofit organization opposing smoking bans, has officially launched their Operation Mollycoddle campaign as of this week. While still keeping with their stated policy of not encourage smoking, the campaign is taking a new direction from previous efforts by specifically targeting the general public instead of the anti-smoking organizations.

Operation Mollycoddle was designed for the explicit purpose of encouraging the general public to reclaim themselves as responsible adult citizens who are capable of making their own decisions and counter the overwhelming attitude that people need to be forcibly protected from themselves. While a large portion of the campaign is based in humor, the underlying message is one that should grab people's attention and force them to ask the question "why?"

While Ban the Ban's previous efforts have been based on questioning the science, this new direction instead questions the rationale and asks the question as to why people are conceding to being treated like children. While science is still a major factor, it will not carry a visible presence in this campaign.

"The question that began to plague us was why it is that more people aren't outraged by this. Is it apathy, or are they simply not seeing the bigger picture? As responsible adults, we are personally offended that our ability to make decisions and live with the consequences of those decisions is being called into question. We are not children who need to have our hands held."

The campaign is relying on volunteers to help stir up people throughout the state using a variety of tools available on the web (Operation Mollycoddle website).

About Ban the Ban Wisconsin: BtBWI is a nonprofit Wisconsin organization dedicated to fighting smoking bans based on the principle of the right to choose.

While a large portion of the campaign is based in humor

I think this approach is brilliant.

There is nothing more debilitating to a nanny-state control freak than being deservedly mocked and laughed at.

It takes all the air out of them, just as a spoiled child is always blindsided by real life.

Please do everything in your power to see smoking bans repealed nationwide.

I’ve read that smoking increases testosterone - which means men are more manly when they smoke. Maybe true, maybe not true.

Anybody besides me notice how much the anti-smoking idiots are a bunch of pansy, limpwristed queerbait? And I mean no disrespect to my gay friends who enjoy smoking.

The important thing is to fight “collectivism” everywhere you see it.

Yours truly,
The Woim

I think it’s brilliant too...I hope it goes Nationwide.
This needs to be done with Glowball Warming too.

Saturday Night Live has done more to shape public opinion recently in politics. Well, that and Chrissy’s tingly leg.

Bring it on... “Operation Mollycoddle”

Marshfield recently passed a smoking ban. Now they're running radio ads touting how wonderful it is to go to the smoke-free bowling alley or restaurant. Why, you can actually see the lanes at the bowling alley now! You can smell the food at the restaurants now! And your dry cleaning bill will drop to almost nothing!

We've been told a smoking ban actually increases business at bars and restaurants. If that's so, why is the city of Marshfield using taxpayer money to entice people to frequent these businesses?

Government induced bans never increase business over all establishments, many businesses suffer. That town is probably using taxpayer money to get people out to them so they don't lose the tax income from property tax, etc.

I agree wholeheartedly, and IT’S ABOUT TIME!! I’ve been suggesting this very thing =for YEARS. My only complaint-the cartoons/pictures aren’t insulting ENOUGH. You need to get REALLY dirty with this crew-remember the pictures of fishooks in the mouths of smokers? They need to work Hitler and the Nazis into it, too.

They did the exact same thing in OheilO-for MONTHS after the statewide ban went in. Same ads, almost word for word.

What a great idea! Expose the whole liberal agenda for the patronizing insult that it is by patronizingly insulting it right back. “Thanks! I have a mother.” would be another good name for a campaign like this. Make that the answer for every liberal proposal.

Brilliant! About time! How many YEARS have some of us here been saying it’s not about banning anything, it’s about CONTROL? (Even some Freepers don’t get it!)

“Is it apathy, or are they simply not seeing the bigger picture?”

Yes, and yes. And it’s our fault for not presenting the bigger picture in simple terms that the general public can understand and relate to.
