"Why don't we just throw Mother Nature in jail and be done with it?"

They would if they could.

"Isn't NORML the long discredited marijuana pushing group? "

How could NORML be any more discredited than say the DEA, FDA BATFE?

I'm still waiting for y'alls proposed amendment to the constitution for your right to "Inhale or ingest at will or at any time intoxicating (stupefy or excite by the action of a chemical substance) or inebriating (exhilarate or stupefy by the action of a chemical substance) substances". C'mon, I challenge a 'movement' on the effort. Let's see how far it goes.

(ONE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT that the founders would have covered this aspect were it that important. Seems to me they found tobacco and alcohol to be sufficient for the purpose.)

"I think you're confused. You're arguing that a government report is false?"

Well, on the other hand have the FEDS ever published any false reports to bolster whatever position they are taking?

" Ingesting mind altering chemicals without medical necessity or any set dosage is a very bad idea."

Then you must be against the sale of alcohol and tobacco also.

Those boys are doing a hell of a job. How do I get them over to my house to clear some weeds?

"You can smoke it all day long and not get any THC out of it so I doubt it's illegal."

The DEA says it is unless you have permission from them.

"It was at least 12 feet tall, and was topped by enormous purple buds, some over a foot long. These had little beads of resin on them...enough so they glistened in the sunlight."

I was trekking in Nepal and walked around the back of a house where stood an entire garden of huge pot plants taller than the roof of the house. My mouth opened in awe. My entire party passed without even noticing them. Seems to be a local custom there or something.

I thought it was covered under liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In the absence of harming another individual, I own myself and the responsibility for all my actions, not the State.

"That should be sufficient, I would think."

Yeah, it allows the stoners to get high and the authoritarian miscreants in the government to throw folks in jail.

Obviously it is okay to have pleasure, just not at the expense of responsibility. Ie some people find murder pleasurable, but God does not approve of that. Come on you know that. It is amazing how the pro-drug types tend to do this, you say you are against drugs you are a fascist, you say you are against pleasure however you like it with no morals or constraints, and you are against it entirely. Stop with those arguments. They do not work.

It's everywhere here in Nebraska. You can't swing a stoned pothead without hitting some. It's really a bit of a nuisance. I got most of it out of my pasture but it still grows quite well in the windbreak.

If one smokes pot and does irresponsible things, one is irresponsible. If one smokes weed but does not do anything else irresponsible, I fail to see how the smoking implies irresponsibility.

"Your resorting to ad hominem.."

Didn't do that. Asked you a question a second time after you ignored it and descried that's what you did.

(Untruths are your un-friends.)

I thought it was covered under liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
I don't think that's quite it; the state of being solidly stoned, of being inert, zoned out, feeling no pain, is not exactly in same vein of "...the pursuit of happiness."

The Constitution is not a suicide pact for either the entire country or for individual citizens. To that end, I think the founding fathers knew the limits on 'how far' they should let dope-smoking, pill-popping, meth-ingesting and even drunkeness 'flourish' in a society; a society seeking solely to 'escape' reality or self-indulge on intoxicants was not what was on their agenda ...
