Kiwis wait for hours to try NZ's first Popeyes chicken restaurant

The woman said she hadn't had Popeyes before and was "excited to try it".

"Been waiting out here three hours so it better be worth it.

"I'm gonna try the burger but we might go big and extravagant today. Go big, go home."

Uhh, *burger*? Popeyes must've expanded the menu for the NZ folks.

The fast-food chicken competition is definitely getting multi-national, some Filipino restaurant chain (Jollibee) opened a location in the Dallas area not long ago. And of course there are the Korean places that serve wings, strips, tenders, nuggets, etc., like Bonchon.

I assume the chicken is imported. There is no way that they are going to be able to profitably operate one Popeyes in New Zealand.

I used to like Church’s a lot, especially back when they had fried catfish. Haven’t been there for a long time, because there’s none close to where we live.

If I want fried chicken now, I usually get it at the Safeway deli. Better than KFC for sure and as good as Popeye’s, but about half the price.

Do Māories loot restaurants or will they ever? I seriously doubt that. And if you think many American blacks (or whites) are going to emigrate to NZ well, no, they’re aren’t.

Our Fred Meyer (Kroger) deli marks down all hot goods after 7 PM so a good-sized chicken breast ends up costing $1.50. And they really are big.

At Popeyes I only utilize app promotions, like everywhere else. Never buy anything at “rack” price.

And if people want heat, Kroger’s chipotle fried chicken is hotter than Popeyes.

Where are You located ?

The last time I was in Seguin I was able to get a “fix” of Churche’s years ago.

The local Food Lion Grocery does pretty good here in Mooresville, NC. Better than kan’t find the chicken does.
