Aw, that’s nothing! Under Crime Minister Justin Castreau of Canaduh, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) is replacing its fleet of forty year old CF18s with inexpensive, stealth aircraft.
Castreau plans on re-introducing a fleet of Sopwith Snipes, as the replacement for the CF18s. As they are primarily framed with wood and have doped canvas skin and wings, they are not especially visible with modern radar. As they are so slow, they can sneak up on jet aircraft. The jet pilots will lose control of their aircraft because they are laughing so hard at their ‘opponent’, that they will be shot down by the Snipes. Of course, being on a ‘green’ kick for Canadians (except himself, of course), they will be powered by solar power.
The logic of Justin ‘ill douche’ Castreau, though this may not neccessarily true.

Heron Systems’ F-16 AI agent would then go on to dominate a series of dogfights against an experienced human Air Force F-16 pilot, “winning 5-0 through aggressive and precise maneuvers the human pilot couldn’t outmatch.” In 2021, Heron Systems was acquired by Shield AI, a San Diego-based technology company that specializes in the development of AI-powered defense systems.

I assume this means that AI planes could be built differently by not having to accommodate a human pilot and be capable of flying at higher altitudes and g forces. Would be fun to watch, unless you’re our enemy.

No canopy, cockpit, ejection seat, climate control or oxygen system. Armor weight could be reduced. Extreme maneuvers wouldn’t matter to the computer, except when it came to staying under maximum airframe loading.
