The trouble with the glove pantomime during the trial that the prosecution never countered, is that leather shrinks quite noticeably when wet or dampened, which it would have done if there was blood or sweat, or moisture on the ground where they were found, from dew or recently-watered shrubbery. It takes effort to stretch it back out to its original size.
