You're touting your lobotomy?
Wait ... we aren't jumping to conclusions?
So sorry, my bad, but you started it.
How was I to know?
Whaaaaa? She’s black with a kid and the father left? Naw. That is COMPLETELY unpredictable.
Should have gotten a PHD in finding a good man to be your husband and then having a children
Dr. Sherrie Bain - Environmental Microbiologist at Eco Global/Eco Tabs - Monterey, California, United StatesOddly, Eco Global in in Florida, so this is some kind of work-from-home gig, and at circa $60K in Monterrey CA, she probably should be moving....
As to the company: Eco Global
Eco Global Sales Group
4582 N. Hiatus Road
Sunrise, FL 33351
USA
Sounds like she's about ready to expect blue collar, hardworking taxpayers to pony up for her tuition and childcare.....
Interesting that the LinkedIn page pictures her with a Trident University background which belies the Texas A&M University mention alone. Trident is Earn Your Degree Entirely Online
Source: Ph.D. Health Sciences
Something about the Yahoo! / Huff Post article is definitely not painting the complete picture.... Especially as Trident pushes federal loans for tuition.... Online. Wholly online.
Or she doesn’t want him involved in decisions.
Sounds like a great true story endorsement of marriage.
The headline is clearly meant to be a complaint. “Society” must be wrong. Also, PhDs are special and are not supposed to experience the problems of the lower classes.
Had she called in to the Dr. Laura radio show, she would likely have heard something like this: “So you shacked up with this guy. He got you knocked up. Then he left you. Did I get that right?” Dr. Laura is a big believer in marriage.
There are two people who are primarily at fault: this woman and her former boyfriend.
has a phd ?
so does the harvard gal and all the evo cult
doesnt mean squat anymore.
At one point, she was making over $90K/year. But being a single parent due to sexual promiscuity is just SUCH a BURDEN! If only someone else would pay her child care!
YEGADS!
Sounds like she is doing the best she can.
Maybe her problems were self inflicted but I do not know the details of that relationship to determines her culpability in its failure.
"Bain is a microbiologist with a Ph.D. in health sciences..."
I looked at her curriculum and it didn't impress me. No wonder she had to get a job doing poor work as a data analytics analyst for a completely different field.
She thought she was important because her queries took over 24 hours.
I asked her if she ever tried to optimize her queries, and she said she didn't, because our company should just buy more stuff to let her see if what she did was wrong, quicker.
Basically she sat around doing nothing but “exploring” possible strange correlations, like phases of the moon affecting parking lot usage by drivers of tan vehicles.
She should have been a plumber. In my area, plumbers can earn six figures with a high school education {I know several}.
But if she is only making $60 K with a PhD in microbiology she is not good at her craft.
The yutes filling scripts at the local pharmacy make more than that.
I'm not buying her sad tale.
“Bain is a microbiologist with a Ph.D. in health sciences who has worked primarily in academia. Most recently, she was the senior microbiologist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.”
My son has a BS from UNH in Biotechnology. His first job out of college paid $70K. His Second job paid $95K plus bonuses.
He is basically a micro biologist for a major Pharma corp(not Pfizer) in the greater Boston area.
My son was accepted to several PHD programs. However, he CHOSE to get a job instead of pursuing a PHD. FYI, PHD programs take roughly 5-6 years where he would have been paid a stipend of $36K/year.
MY point is that this woman must have been an Affirmative Action student. She took a job making less money. She lives in a place that is expensive to live. She should be earning more money than this unless she is not that smart.
The problem is she will eventually be a diversity hire at some major corporation. Then the smart people that end up working under her will be screwed. I see the Peter Principal in her future.
This is odd....
Bain is a microbiologist with a Ph.D. in health sciences who has worked primarily in academia... “That’s been my primary source of income since I’ve been taking time off to to write my dissertation over the summer.”
If she hasn’t written her dissertation yet, how can she be a PhD? Working in a PhD and having a PhD are two very different things.
She claims to have an actual Ph.D. in microbiology. On the face of it, that’s a respectable degree. If she’s for real, she should be able to get six figures with it now that she has actually graduated.
SHE DOESN’T REALIZE THAT SHE HAS TO MOVE TO WHERE THE JOB SHE IS TRAINED FOR IS NEEDED.............
I completely agree, say the same. You can be very smart but not educated. You can be very educated and not smart. You can be both educated and smart but not wise. You can also be very wise and not particularly smart or ‘educated’ (e.g. just follow the Bible).
Finding people with all 3 is rare - but they’re not binary either, each is on a scale.
I feel the same with the success of education. It takes the parents, the student, and the teacher to care about education for it to be successful. Rarely do you see kids caring about an education if their parents don’t. If the kids and parents don’t then why should the teacher? At best, a truly great teacher might have the motivation to continue to be great and, hopefully, along the way convince a few kids of the value of an education - but there’s not many of them.
The ‘tripods’ of life.
My son moved twice after graduating with his BS. Fortunately, he did not have to move too far. However, his first place after moving out of MY house was a cottage on the back side of a multi million dollar house 1/4 mile from the Atlantic Ocean in NH.
His current employer is paying for the Masters degree in Engineering Management he is currently taking online from UMass.
He wanted to get an MBA but the company would not have paid for that.
He has to stay with the company for at least a year or two after completing his Masters or they will not pay for it.
Apparently, this is pretty standard in his field.
He also moved in to a two bedroom condo with another guy he works with a year ago. So, instead of paying $1750 for a one bedroom apartment. He now pays $1200 to his buddy that owns the condo.
Now IF he could only find a decent girl friend. Eventually a wife so we can get some grandchildren.
