For me, it just shows us how the world changes. I grew up in Seattle. That street scene back in the day was the type of thing I experienced in parts of Seattle back in the 70’s. All of them now look like that street view. It just shows how the world changes.
On a side note, we moved to a rural part of south central Kentucky 12 years ago and honestly it still looks pretty much like those old B&W pictures from the first half of the 20th century, except the cars are newer. We love it!

Thank you for this thread. I listened to the whole podcast. Not sorry I did. But at the very end Akroyd killed my respect for him with his comment about aliens should come with a big magnet and suck up all the guns.

"Trading Places" remains my favorite Aykroyd movie but pretty much all of them are good.
Bill Murray was another fine movie actor from SNL. "What About Bob?" was my favorite featuring him.

The same director made the Porkys movies and they sure couldn’t be made today.

They did an actual sequel last year and it wasn’t bad to me. It was a tribute to his Dad who had passed away.

I was fortunate to see Aykroyd and Belushi as the Blues Brothers live in Dallas. Belushi actually did several ‘flip-flops’ (gymnastics) down the center of the stage. Quite a sight to see! Was a great show!

Yes that was good as all the origina main cast played their roles. Except of course for the old man.

I remember Eddie Murphy on SNL doing an Elvis Impersonation. He does 2 or 3 songs, then looks in the mirror and is shocked. Then he sings, “Well that’s alright Mama!!”

Murphy stated out great - 48 Hours, Trading Places - but he went off the rails. Those Dr Doolittle flicks and The Nutty Professor?! Ugh.

I doubt if A Christmas Story would be made today, especially the end when they eat at the Chinese restaurant. Fa rah rah rah rah I always think of that when we get to the end of A Christmas Story, lol.
A Christmas Story and The Blues Brothers are among my favorite comedies.
