$240 for that? I’ll buy Yuengling. Better beer, cheaper and still American owned. Boston Beer went woke.

Yuengling has a brewery tour of their brewery here in Tampa. At the end, free samples ..

A friend and I tried a raspberry lembick at the beer fest on Young Circle in Hollywood Florida 20 odd years back.

We sipped our free sample, shuddered, spit it back in the Dixie
cups and looked for discarded cigar butts, dog droppings, anything to kill the taste!

It wasn’t a bad night except for that, free beer, free food samples, free bands.

Beer, lambic, cider; None of the above. Does not meet the Reinheitsgebot (Wasser, maltz, hops). They put fruit into it but controlled the yeast used (Not wild), and aged it, not lambic, but close. Not a cider, since not apple.

So! Fortified beverage it is!

I toured Guinness in Dublin. It’s become more of a Disney type attraction with a brewery on the side. Quite fun.

True. The German purity law does not apply to US brewers, but even with that, a 28% alcohol beer is closer to a brandy or other fortified beverage than a beer. Nevertheless, it’s all about marketing and uniqueness, and don’t forget the money.

T.G. Monday now and This was a sport bar discussion.

“Not fortified.” So you would call it...?

They fortify this years brew with last years brew to promote it as unique and having extreme alchol content. (Banned in 28 states!) Otherwise its a discussion about “blended beer “ which I suppose you could also call this but that just sounds funny. Maybe they should just distill it, but I am not certain what the Hops would do to the taste of whiskey?)

I can see Missouri from my back porch, so I sit on the edge of “Malt Beverage” land. Beer brewed with Rice as an Adjunct. In the popular mind it’s still called beer. (Boulevard Brewing here in KC is owned by InBev but does not use Rice.)

(TexasGator; Florida flag, Texan living FL? Sort of Blended!)

I had a stout that was 11% once. But that’s still less than half of this whatever-it-is.
