So many animals out there need a home. Don’t let old memories keep you from making more
And they find such joy in the simplest things. Just a ride around the block and my dogs were ecstatic.
And good grief if I accidentally tripped and fell in the yard, they were all over me like it was the funniest thing they had ever seen.
I’ve lost several pets over the years and it never gets any easier, even when they’re old and sick and you know it’s coming.
Our Barkley died about 6 years ago. He was 3/4 cattle dog and 1/4 border collie. Amazingly smart. He had a huge vocabulary and we could tell him things to do in full sentences and he would do it. Frisbee dog. At his peak he could jump in the air, turn over, catch the frisbee and race it back to us. We still miss him. In our long lives there were two dogs that were that special. The first one was a standard size dachshund.
You have my sincere condolences. I have a chocolate point meezer and he has been such a comfort to me when I lost a very close friend in April of last year and a dear sister Thanksgiving of last year. What a friend he is.
Sending up a prayer for you.
Losing our dear fur ones is losing family. We grieve in sorrow.
Thank you for the condolences and prayers. There is something about a meezer that sets them apart from other felines, don’t know what it is just seem that way to me. A real loss.
Dana clearly loved that pooch. I wish her the gift of peace of mind and acceptance.
If it was a Viszla it was Hungary’s dog at least that is where the breed originated.
So very sorry to hear this.
Those of us who have love dear pets can feel for her.
Well. Lost my last dog to heart issues. Very Early for the breed. Wife and I heart broken for many weeks. Months. See, no children here...Then Wife adopted one specifically for me. We came to consider the fact that these family members will be upon us. Weather we care for them or let to someone else. Then. Wife passed. She wanted me to have something to care for.... These family members are priceless! And to them, we are too..... Just thinking... Help them.... And yourself. Sadly, none get out alive. So, Live! Peace!!!!!!

We have the ashes of our first two Dogs, and I suspect we will live long enough for two more to pass. They will be buried with myself and the Wife.
FYI, I don’t criticize Dana Perino. I’m real sorry about Jasper passing. How old was he?
We had to put our darling dog asleep 3 weeks after my mother died......coming back from the vet my poor husband was crying, and I said :Honey, you didn’t cry when my mom died”.....he said “Your mother never licked my face”!
Over the years we’ve owned a variety of cats, dogs, hamsters, rats, mice, and parakeets. I now have a single common goldfish in a 75-gallon tank that I can never hug or kiss. Talk about a thankless job with no payoff, lol.
Agreed now is not the time. We lost our 14 year old Boxer on tax day.
So sorry to hear of your loss too.
I feel your pain. It is so hard to lose your fur baby. I know, been there and done that with two special kitties. They are family. Prayers up for your loss.
I knew my rescue sheltie was nearing the end in May 2017, On my 50th birthday that year he had a scheduled appointment and since the vet knew it was my birthday she didn’t want to tell me it was time. Two days later we were back at the vets and he was put down. I had told the Vet I was not going to get another dog. I took it really hard. So hard in fact I dropped out of my graduate level courses for that semester (what happened to that is for another story).
After I dropped out, I learned of a breeder who competes in National Trials and is a National Champion more than once, has had her dogs on the front of dog food and covers of magazines just to list her many achievements with Vizsla. I took a ride out to her farm where she kept her dogs. I was worried it was a puppy mill however it wasn’t in a state where puppy mills run amok. I knew then I wanted one. So I placed my order for a litter that she was preparing for delivery on Valentine’s day. However, I did not get delivery on VD-day. She had taken the litter down to GA where she was competing once again in National Trials with her older dogs. One week later I had my new dog. When I walked into the Vet’s office, the Vet was shocked not only I had another dog but that dog was not a sheltie.
The kicker to all of this was my new dog was born on my 50th birthday, the same day the Vet wanted to put my old dog to his forever sleep. Sometimes the magical sky fairy works in mysterious ways to let you know and bless you with what you really need. I named my dog after a character in the television show Covert Affairs. Owners don’t handle their dogs, dogs handle their owners, no matter how much you train them. Thus he was aptly named after Piper Perabo’s handler on that show. He has never left my side.
Dude, a dogs life at the most is 15 years. It doesn’t matter the breed. You want something to keep up with you, get a parrot and enjoy the screams and the constant mess,
