Police in Poland have detained seven people on charges relating to the building an enormous medieval-style castle on a lake in Notecka Forest, an area protected as part of the EUs Natura 2000 network.
***
Of the seven people detained, two are inspectors from the local building supervision authority, who have been charged with failing to comply with their obligations by not ensuring suspension of the construction works and by testifying falsely in reports. They face potential jail sentence of up to three years.
Two officials from the architecture and constructions department in the local district office face accusations relating to verification of documents presented by the investor, which led to the project being given the green light. The accusations also carry a jail sentence of up to three years.

The video at the link shows a tower and much more construction.
How does one spell CHADzone in Polish?
Papers please
Maybe its going to have spires like Neuschwanstein Castle.
Looks like an over grown and half built eastern European mafia McMansion circa 2000. You use to see them all over eastern europe. Smaller of course than this. Small time players would run out of money while building and leave these half built houses on the outskirts of towns.
That’s beautiful, a real castle.
Poles are masters of stone work.
It will be finished quietly...good.
How long did it take the authorities to figure out they had a problem with this?
30 seconds after bribe money stopped
That makes perfect sense, thanks.
Would not be much of a castle without a keep!
See #21
Eh. At this point...might as well finish it.
Nice. Poland is my destination of choice if the SHTF here for real. I just wish my father would have taught me Polish as his father taught him.
They arranged for the fixing of docs & permits...and thought no one would notice their little place? lol
I used google translate. The text is a solid block. I tried to add paragraphs:
The castle in the Notecka Forest will not be a hotel, but a 'small, mysterious town'.
Google translate:
Money.pl was the first in Poland to reach the designer of a mysterious castle in the Notecka Forest. - In Polish it is difficult to find a simple term for such a composition as the building being erected in Stobnica - explains Dr. Waldemar Szeszuła. Construction of the castle in the Notecka Forest in a protected area of Natura 2000 - this project had to attract attention sooner or later.
Within a few days, the investment in the Notecka Forest managed to arouse the imagination of Internet users. Money.pl reached the designer of the building - it is Waldemar Szeszuła, an architect from Poznań. What do we learn from him? Not a hotel, but apartments and services. Not in the heart of the forest, but on its outskirts. Not a castle, but a real historic town with streets, courtyards and alleys - this is how it presents its design. - Coming to this place, we will enter the world of enchanted historical architecture - says Waldemar Szeszuła in an interview with money.pl. - The building should give the impression that it has always stood in this place - he adds. He also admitted that he was surprised by the commotion around the building. Ensures that he did not design the hotel. Apartments with a service layer are being built in Stobnica. He also adds that no one has destroyed the environment, and the whole is built on old fish breeding ponds - most likely carp.
The building in Stobnica is to resemble Italian small towns and attract tourists from all over Poland. Interview with Dr. Waldemar Szeszuła, designer of the castle in Stobnica Mateusz Ratajczak, money.pl: Have you designed the castle in Stobnica? That's what the documents show. At the moment, it is the most known such facility in Poland. Dr. Waldemar Szeszuła, architect: Yes, my studio is responsible for the project. In Polish, it is difficult to find a simple term for such a composition as the building being constructed in Stobnica.
Due to its complexity, it is almost a small fortified town. Defensive features dominate in the external image, narrow streets, courtyards and alleys appear inside. It is a very complicated structure with a rich form. The castle is a colloquial term, used without thinking, for every object with features referring to historical defensive structures. See also the Castle in the Notecka Forest. What fate awaits the controversial investment And what will be inside? I have a confidentiality clause. It depends on the investor in what form and when it presents the full assumptions of this idea.
The investor does not reveal details, and in the meantime there are theories that there will be an Olympic pool, that there will be a huge banquet hall, that it will be a hotel. I honestly admit that I am surprised by the media noise around this matter. We wanted to realize this building, finish it and then introduce it. The evaluation of an architectural work cannot be based on casual information, gossip and often distorted reports. After completing the facility, everyone will have the opportunity to fully evaluate and become familiar with its program. It will eventually be a hotel - as some people speculate - or something else? It will be a building
