“better to let grandma die.”

If you are concerned to that degree about grandma dying, you need to be wearing a professionally-fitted N95 or respirator, professionally fitted and removed according to ICU -level procedures, not touched in-between, and disposed after a single use. Or, better yet, stay home.

Thinking that wearing a dust mask is materially protecting anyone is a self-delusion.

The dust mask you buy at home depot is an N95. And by professionally fit, you mean shaving, and pinching the metal tab around your nose. If you think people can’t handle putting mask on, why do you think they can handle driving a car, or carrying a gun? Do you think the Filipina immigrant nurse can handle putting on a mask, but it is too hard for you because you didn’t get professional training? When did embracing incompetence become a conservative rallying cry. Masks are too haaaaard. wahhhhhh.

"I've been looking for an excuse to wear a mask in Wal-Mart for 20 years. 😆"

Heh. I catch your drift. ;)

In states where they're not mandated in the Midwest, a few more people are starting to wear them. Business in Walmart stores in those areas has slowed down over the past week or so.

yep i think that was the last I heard about margarine too- back during the ‘margarine is good for you’ fad in the country- there were a ton of commercials for various brands of it- all the time- they were really pushing it- you don’t see those commercials so much anymore though-

“better to let grandma die”

Except she won’t. Or will. Regardless of a virtue-signalling mask.

“The dust mask you buy at home depot is an N95. And by professionally fit, you mean shaving, and pinching the metal tab around your nose.”

Odd. Back when my wife was an RN, she couldn’t get the N95 masks to fit right so the hospital had her wear a different mask. If she had only known she could wear a DUSK MASK around dangerous viruses!

“If worn properly, a surgical mask is meant to help block large-particle droplets, splashes, sprays, or splatter that may contain germs (viruses and bacteria), keeping it from reaching your mouth and nose. Surgical masks may also help reduce exposure of your saliva and respiratory secretions to others.

While a surgical mask may be effective in blocking splashes and large-particle droplets, a face mask, by design, does not filter or block very small particles in the air that may be transmitted by coughs, sneezes, or certain medical procedures....

...An N95 respirator is a respiratory protective device designed to achieve a very close facial fit and very efficient filtration of airborne particles. Note that the edges of the respirator are designed to form a seal around the nose and mouth. Surgical N95 Respirators are commonly used in healthcare settings and are a subset of N95 Filtering Facepiece Respirators (FFRs), often referred to as N95s....

...All FDA-cleared N95 respirators are labeled as “single-use,” disposable devices. If your respirator is damaged or soiled, or if breathing becomes difficult, you should remove the respirator, discard it properly, and replace it with a new one. To safely discard your N95 respirator, place it in a plastic bag and put it in the trash. Wash your hands after handling the used respirator.

N95 respirators are not designed for children or people with facial hair. Because a proper fit cannot be achieved on children and people with facial hair, the N95 respirator may not provide full protection.”

But yeah...buy a dust mask and pretend you are safe!

BS. A professional fitting for an N95 takes about 30 minutes. the this and size of the mask is selected Once fit is assessed and you are instructed how to put it on it is tested with a odious aerosolized substance under various conditions such as talking, moving in all
directions turning etc. only then is your mask properly fit tested. When I pick up my N95 i’m asked 2 questions - type and size - they are not one size fits all home depot. Some people cannot be fit adequately and others cannot tolerate a properly fit N 95 due to claustrophobia/breathing issues etc and have to use another system. A properly fit N95 is not easy to wear for very long.

in order to seek is. if suspected covid patients the N95 is combined with a full face shield gown and gloves. The N95 by itself is nowhere near adequate. But that home depot mask you buy is your magic talisman.....
