The problem is that Cetera didn’t write that much, until “If You Leave Me Now”, which then became Chicago’s biggest hit to date.
Because of that, he thought he could convince the band to move in that sappy direction. I think Terry would have quit had he not killed himself. He could have had a great solo career. Every bit as good on guitar as SRV, and a better vocalist.
