And the best sources of zinc are meat and shellfish. Go figure. Almost like we are meant to eat meat...

Many weightlifting men are deficient in zinc and magnesium.
A good supplement is helpful.

the iodine protocol is most effective against cancer as iodine promotes apoptosis, which is the natural death of abnormal cells.

I’ve been contemplating your prior comments on iodine, and I’m currently at 1.1 mg a day, but I am willing to read further on the mega doses and their stated benefits.

I just don’t want the downsides that can happen going over 1.1 mg a day, which is the Upper Tolerable Limit, at this time.

I started taking a zinc supplement to boost my immune system and counteract my allergies.

However, I find that too much makes me moody in the extreme including bouts of depression, which is something I have no history of.

I’m not 100% sure it’s the zinc and it doesn’t seem to be tied to a particular dosage. It’s more like it suddenly builds up exponentially and causes my brain to go nutsoid.

I’ve read zinc is a copper metabolism inhibiter and I wonder if the zinc causes a copper deficiency that might be responsible for the brain weirdness.

Just throwing it out there to see if anyone has experienced similar...

I’m a 26 year survivor of esophageal cancer... Caught in time for surgery. Had the best surgeon in the country/world at Sloan-Kettering. Life-altering surgery but I survived to see my kids marry and the birth of 10 grandchildren with another on the way in May.

I’m glad you recognize you’re on a low dose. Even 50mg is not a mega dose. Salt is THEE key to eliminate any detox symptoms and the mag and Vit C open your detox pathways.

are you experiencing detox symptoms?

I haven’t noticed any symptoms, but I’ve always taken kelp with around 325 micrograms, so it’s not been a big jump.

I did get some Iodoral and tried half a tablet—I didn’t notice any issues around that, either, but I then dropped back to 1.1 mg from kelp.

The salt, Vitamin C, and magnesium are good to know about. I already take the Vitamin C and Magnesium.
