Asset stripping. Sears won’t last the next decade.

That would be an interesting book. How could such a company, and others, go down? I would guess executives were banging the offices for money, and got it. It sure wasn’t the tellers in the stores.

Sears was like Amazon at one time, especially with their catalog.

I’ve always thought Sears was overpriced. I’m amazed they lasted this long.

From my point of view Sears went out of business about 20 years ago.

I believe the last year they had their catalog was Amazon’s first year.

They sold Craftsman Tools a couple of years ago to Lowe’s.

Sears has so tarnished the brand that they were lucky to get anything...

Was a time Diehard meant something... now its just cheap chinese made junk, no different than most else out there.

The complete mismanagement of Sears by its current owner is just crazy and sad to watch... They lost their identity in the 90s and never recovered.

It has been just a brand name for at least 25 years, didn’t get you a better battery, just spent more money for a little more warranty.

And my battery go-to place is a large warehouse supplier. I’ve seen their cabinet with all the stickers for all the various brands. And I’d had them pull the AAA stickers off a battery to put their own on, because the only battery in my size had been pre-stickered for the AAA auto club stock.

Agree. Walmart and Target pretty much killed mall retail a long time ago. It’s on life support now.

And to be clear, DieHard was one of the brands.

“ Sears was like Amazon at one time, especially with their catalog.”

You’re right. In fact, if you map out the two processes they’re almost identical.
