If the convention picks someone not even running in the primaries then their base will likely revolt on a far greater scale than 2016s tantrum.
However, they can pick a decrepit, dying geezer,and pair him with someone in worse health.
Then if they win the Oligarchs can install their choice with impunity two years from now after the retirements due to health have lead to the annointing of the oligarch’s chosen puppet.
I don’t think it will be Michelle. They wouldn’t put her up against Trump if they think he will win. They will put up some sacrifice or perhaps Hillary and set up Michelle to help raise the party out of the ashes when there’s no longer a strong incumbent.
Or Michelle will want to relax and enjoy the prawns, lobster, and prime steak she is accustomed to.
