Winterlike temperatures that pushed into the northern Plains through the middle of this week will continue charging south and east into the weekend.

The first push of cold air arrived in the northern Plains on Wednesday into Wednesday night. Temperatures dropped into the single digits from Montana to the Dakotas and into northern Iowa throughout Wednesday night.

Cold continued to infiltrate the the country, spreading through the middle Mississippi River Valley and the Midwest.

Arctic blast satellite image The NOAA-20 satellite's VIIRS instrument captured this image of a major cold front sweeping across the continental U.S. on November 8, 2019. (NOAA) The lowest temperatures so far this season expected for the Northeast and many in the Southeast on Saturday morning, where daily record low temperatures could be challenged for cities from Boston to Nashville.

"The low temperature could plunge to 25 F in Philadelphia on Saturday morning. It hasn't been this cold so early in the season there since 1976," Jesse Ferrell, AccuWeather meteorologist and social media manager, said.

A stiff northwesterly wind will keep AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures as much as 15 degrees F lower than the actual temperature reading across much of the region.

Normal high temperatures for the beginning of November range from the lower 40s F in northern Maine to the lower 60s F in the mid-Atlantic.

With todays high efficiency heating equipment it’s best to have a spare everything. Well worth the cost vs the house plumbing freezing up. Naturally vented millivolt space heaters are worth their weight in gold in extreme weather, too. Maybe not as good as wood, but close to it.

Lol...I’m fixing all the things the previous owners had let deteriorate and doing lots of improvements, too. It sure is a money pit! We are so fed up with CA that Idaho might become the permanent residence once my wife retires.

"But is the record cold man-made? If so, how?"

It's recorded as man made even know this directly related to Sun spots and solar winds.

When solar winds are light the from low solar activity. This lowers earths electric circuit. cool air rises from the surface lowering planets temperature. Think of an electric heating coil. The electric resistance creates heat. High solar winds we will see more lighting storms and warms the planet.

Climate change "scientists" measure Solar energy and does not count solar winds as energy. Because they do not take into effect the electrical circuit of the planet. Anything that isn't solar energy or planet energy is obviously Man made according the climate change BS.

I remember that. I was in grammar school. We had 20 inches of snow on the ground for two weeks. Our town had one snow truck and it broke down the first day.

We still had school. I still had to walk to school. Uphill both ways. And all I got for lunch was a biscuit.

Take that, demon child. Mother Nature is not pleased with her.

Today was the coldest on record on this date in Central Texas. We may have snow on Tuesday. So much for that globull warming.

January 28, 1977 was an especially crazy weather day. Blizzard conditions and extreme cold with high winds in most of the Northeast. That was also when the "wall of snow" hit Buffalo and buried the city under many feet of snow.

It was also the day Freddie Prinze the comedian killed himself. Poor guy probably thought an ice age was coming.

That is true. The weather in the Northeast commands the attention of the entire nation. Even when I lived in California, everybody was always talking about what it was doing back East. Now that I work in NYC, I see why. New York City is pretty much the center of the universe.
