Apparently the cars they were caravaning in, were mistaken by one cartel, as vehicles from another cartel.

So they opened fire.

They then discovered, they'd attacked an innocent family. They killed everyone in one car and burned it to try to cover up.

The rest of the kids are in hiding; apparently there is / was a large operation underwa, (over 100 government agents, including reportedly the FBI) to try to rescue them .

Although I've done some traveling in my day and have visited one or two pretty funky places I've avoided Mexico like the plague. I cannot understand,despite the stories I've heard of it being nice,why any civilized person would set foot in Mexico.
