Organization I worked for went openoffice.org many years ago, but even though we had it patched, it was exploited by malware for several of our users, so the problem was pervasive and it got past our antivirus at the time. Went back to paying Microsoft after that. I don’t recommend openoffice.org for professional use. Just pay for office365. Personal use? Have at it.
Apache Open office works fine but is no longer supported.
I should try that. Nothing else seems to be fixing the bugs in my Windows 10 system.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to the thread. Had a good excuse. Had to stop the kitties from bringing in a 2 ft copperhead. Hey, mom, we brought you a present! It is safely decapitated, double bagged and in the garbage outside. Whew.
I put Open Office on the 10 computer. It’s all very old style but it’s fine since I only use it for recipes and such. But I do want to save all my documents on Office. That’s the main thing - to save my stuff.
The last time I took it in to get fixed, the guy was supposed to have saved everything to my thumb drive disk but apparently he didn’t.

Microsoft removed 2007s Diagnostic Tool in Office 2010, but you can still run an Office repair. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, right-click on Microsoft Office 2010, and select Change.
Hope it works.
Looks like office received a security update and your OS needs an update as well. Click Once applications will keep themselves up to date whether you like it or not.
Run Windows update and patch your OS. The vulnerabilities Microsoft recently patched are critical.
p. s. On January 14 2020 windows 7 will no longer receive support.
I turn off the updates after an update messes things up but then get antsy and against my better judgement turn them back on. They are off today.
I have a special tin foil hat for updates...
Oh, my! LOL! CLICK, CLICK, CLICK! Nothing else has worked so might as well try licking it.
Hey, computer messed up, car won’t start and cats tried to present me with a 2 ft copperhead already this morning. Not surprised at any keyboard flubs.
Thanks, everyone.
No soup for you!
Dont use 10-year-old software unless its public domain or you know how to use the source code.
Bunch of folks are going to get caught with their pants down and just hate 10...
Can’t get into anything related to Office without the popup window saying it isn’t compatible.
That doesn’t work.
Thanks though.
Did you happen to try “restoring” it back to an earlier date? I had to do this regularly when I was still running Win 7 to keep it going.
Get Linux the Vampire version. It won’t die. It comes already undead.
Yes. Tried a restore date a month ago to get past recent Windows updates.
Can you do a SYSTEM RESTORE back to when it worked ??
Tried that. Didn’t work.
Thanks.
They have locked this change in then. I had this happen years ago with my MS office also. A MS coder shared an inside trick at the time that would override it. I will try to see if I can find it again.
