So, we should never punish accidents like this?

My bet is they didn’t investigate too hard. Didn’t check his computer/s, phones, texts, emails.

So much for actions having consequences.

Guy kills 2 babies and walks because he “forgot” he had them in the car?

I guess since “there was no intent” all is good.

This is so sad, those poor little babies.

What accident?

Who here could forget they had two of their kids in the back seat of their car for EIGHT hours??

One person says yes, then we’ll talk.

He got rid of twins who were too much of a burden.

These accidents happen and they are horrific. The guy made a mistake. I know a man who was tending to his 3 YO on a dock at a private lake. He turned around for a moment and the toddler disappeared into the water. The water was fairly deep and murky and he went in right after... but couldn’t find his child.

I know a woman who stopped on a rural road (minutes from her house) to tend to a baby. Her 7YO daughter got out of the car (driver’s side) and was crushed between the car and a passing car. The mother held her child and felt her heart stop.

A moment of carelessness can have tragic consequences and there’s a HUGE difference between child abuse and something like this. And I already see the judgmental and typical responses in this thread. But I’ll support the decision of the prosecutors either way. No punishment will compare to what this man and his wife will endure.

The man will be living with this the rest of his life. Every day he sees his kids he will see what he cannot see, the twins that died. If he has the conscience the police are indicating that they think he has, he’ll be in living hell the rest of his life.

If he’d left a dog in the car they’d have crucified him.

He had the right skin tone and was an “amazing” dad according to drive-by media reporting.

Didn’t sound too amazing to me.

As a mom, I cannot fathom not checking on my one year olds- certainly if someone else brought them to day care.

If they left the house at 0600 or so and we’re to return at 6 PM

Well I can’t imagine leaving a one year old with strangers all day. That is sick in the head. Part of the sickness in our culture

But to not check in them all day? N.O. Nope.

No way

The dad was a dope. More reason to check.

This should teach parents a lesson: always assume there’s someone in the back seat, even if you’re one hundred percent certain there’s not. It only takes a second to look.

Three things I’m rather sure of:

1. This was an accident.
2. The grand jury would have have found him criminally negligent.
3. Now there is precedent: He got away with it. Why shouldn’t I?

The prosecutor probably figured that he'd never get a conviction in a case like this.

When murder or manslaughter cases are prosecuted in court, one of the most powerful weapons a prosecutor has is the grief-stricken testimony of surviving family members. In cases like this, the testimony from surviving family members will almost certainly undermine any prosecution.

My grand daughter has two year old twins. She always puts her purse in the back seat after strapping them in. A woman never forgets her purse.

I personally find it hard to believe someone can forget they have their kids in the car, but there may be reasons people do. Not the first time we have heard of this tragedy occurring. If it was a tragic accident then he will suffer his entire remaining life. If not, he will meet judgement that he cannot escape from.

If I did anything stupid like that the rest of my Life would be a living hell.

I could never forgive myself and I assume most people would feel the same way.

I believe it would drive many people to Suicide.

I am pretty sure it would be possible, given the right amount of stress and an unexpected change in routine, that I could make a similar mistake. I respect the prosecutor’s decision.
