A Pennsylvania woman who was vacationing with her husband in the Dominican Republic died suddenly in her room, five days before a couple from Maryland passed away at the same hotel in similar circumstances, Fox News has learned.
The woman, identified by a relative as Miranda Schaup-Werner, a 41-year-old psychotherapist from Allentown, Pa., collapsed on May 25 after having a drink from the mini-bar at the all-inclusive Bahia Principe Hotel in La Romana, her relative told Fox News.
Five days later, engaged couple Edward Nathaniel Holmes and Cynthia Day, were found dead in their room by a resort employee who went in after they failed to check out. They had coincidentally arrived the same day Schaup-Werner passed away.

Good point. If rooms in this hotel are being used to cut and package the stuff, residue or powder left on the tops of counters, tables or mini-bars could do it.
Pesticide use of chemicals that are illegal in the US and civilized countries. They fumigate the room and the people checked in before it “aired out”.
The initial symptoms of methanol intoxication include central nervous system depression, headache, dizziness, nausea, lack of coordination, and confusion. Sufficiently large doses cause unconsciousness and death.
Adulterated whiskey at minibar?
So I found another article that said she died an hour after ingesting the drink. The article also notes that there was no toxicology test done on the victim and the mini bar bottles were not check by the authorities.
So the local authorities are morons.
They may not want to know the truth. Might be bad for the tourist industry.

methanol poisoning isn’t an instant killer and others at the bar should have been affected at the same time. The lady died rather abruptly.

I was in the Dominican Republic and it is a real shithole.
Adulterated alcohol, methanol.
Went to Club Excellence in Punta Cana a couple of years ago. The ambiance was great. The food terrible. During our stay my wife and I both got sick (probably from the water we were brushing our teeth with).
After this spate of stories about the place...we won’t be going back...
If that is a working theory then hotel staff would be also affected or they are takng extraordinary protective measures....
