The Stones have been bad for us.

For example: Boys never screamed during concerts until the Stones . . . hmmm?

have you ever wondered why more of us are not either deaf or wearing hearing aids?

It is a bit of a mystery, isn't it? I guess our young ears were pretty tough, 'cause we sure did crank it up.

For those who will never see them live there is a reasonable facsimile. They filmed the Steel Wheels tour in IMAX at 3 concerts in Europe. It’s available on dvd and is titled At The Max but really it has to be seen on a full IMAX screen to be appreciated. You literally feel you are onstage with them and a good IMAX theatre will give you all the sound and more of the concerts. I saw it back when it was released in 1991. You’ll get satisfaction if you are fortunate to come across a showing these days.

“The tour will mark the band’s first extended run of shows in the U.S. since 2015’s Zip Code tour, though they played Desert Trip in Indio, California, two Las Vegas arena gigs and two private shows in 2016. In the past two years, they have only gigged in Europe. Unlike the marathon tours of the past, they did just 14 shows in 2017 and another 14 this year.”

Very tough ears-I still tell people if it’s too loud, you’re already dead...

If I could go back, I’d see The Who, circa 1970, no band, before or since, could touch them as a live band back then.

My ears ring constantly.
I remember when it started.
Arrived home, after concert, April 1969.
Was in 9th grade.
Jimi Hendrix.
I’m still hearing him play.
And yes, I still have my ticket stub. Not in front of me, but it was under $5.
If i could see him now, would pay a lot to revisit
The Experience.

I'm so jealous. Jimi was my hero, but I never got to see him play.

I take it you played in rock bands?

I did too, but only for about five years. My hearing’s still good, knock on wood.

I love the Stones, but have to agree that they look kind of ridiculous trying to act like they are in their 20s on the stage.

I used to go to JazzFEst in New Orleans every year. But is’s been a long time. The last time I went, tickets were still ten dollars a day. I saw Lynn August, Beau Jocque (he was the hot new guy)Little Milton and Wilson Pickett all on the same stage for ten dollars. Without ever moving around. It was awesome. But now they have decided they need to have all this mainstream junk instead of music that would make sense for the spirit of JazzFest. And they booked the Rolling Stones for this year - what does that possibly have to do with anything JazzFest has ever represented? And they’re asking $185 for tickets for that day. It will serve them right if the Stones have to cancel. Oh,yes!!!!
