Possibly, but they’d already flown from Miami and were close to their destination. I would think any unsecured cargo would have shifted at takeoff, but I could be wrong.

Here’s the path. Everything looked normal until the last minute or so.

If I’m reading that right, they were going 280 when they hit.

Looks like he had to fly through the weather he wanted to go around. Maybe some freakish downdraft.

There’s nothing but small pieces of debris where the aircraft hit. The Flightaware data I think is only from every minute or so. It’s not continuous. Another tracking sight showed it going in at 29,000 ft per minute.

Perhaps clear air turbulence. The precipitation didn’t look too bad. Whatever happened, it seemed to be sudden.

TWC said there is a 140 mph jet stream, the air is turbulent. Being denied the request for a change of course sounds like an issue.

Don’t tornados form at the end of a front when you’d think it would be all clear?

In an age of hiring quotas imposed on air traffic controllers by Obama, you gotta ask - was the ATC one of the black and/or female hires who would not have passed muster under the old hiring standards?

IF he detected severe weather on his radar, requested vectors around it, and was denied due to traffic conflicts this could be a major FAA problem. He could have declared an emergency and changed his heading but if this was IFR it would be a serious violation and he probably thought he could tough it out. The first rule of flight is that the pilot in command is responsible for the safe outcome of the flight but it would be a tough call to make if he did not have visual separation.

This was an Amazon Prime cargo plane.
Sad for those crew members and family.
If your package doesn’t come, this could be the problem.
It just fell out of the sky 30 miles from destination. Sad
