Police in Northern California responded to a "mass casualty overdose" situation on Saturday that resulted in one death and a dozen people hospitalized.
Authorities said that the incident was caused by exposure to the deadly opioid fentanyl, which also affected two responding officers, according to NBC News.
Mike O'Brien, a police captain in Chico, Calif., said at a news conference that four of the victims were in critical condition.
"Certainly there's potential for additional fatalities," O'Brien said. "I want to emphasize that."

Taking it one step further, I’m sure big Pharmacy industry already has a replacement for opioids that they can charge insurance companies two or $300 per script
A doctor told my husband that there is a very effective non-opioid medication available now, but it’s $700 for 30 pills. That was about 2 years ago, and I can’t remember the name of it.
I have seen co-workers on and off: night and day.
And marijuana today is 20X+ that of 1960s crop.
Its just a matter of time before someone weaponizes it.
It already has been weaponized. Remember the Dubrovka Theater siege in Moscow by 30-40 Chechen terrorists.
The Russian spec ops used a gas laced with a fentanyl derivative. The high body count from the survivors was due to the Russians being very secretive about supplying the antidote
