Actress and director Sondra Locke, who received a supporting actress Oscar nomination in her first movie role for “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter,” died Nov. 3 at 74. The Los Angeles County Public Health Department confirmed her death.

She died due to breast and bone cancer, according to Radar Online, which reported that she was laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary.

Locke had a contentious relationship of more than a decade with Clint Eastwood, who first cast her in “The Outlaw Josey Wales.”

Her and Clint had a ‘contentious’ relationship? That would be even more fun!

Wow. Young. Course, at my age I say that a lot.

Seriously, sorry she went at what today is a young age. She was not very talented, and I think her only roles were those Clint cast her in.

No, she was already a known before Clint, who didn’t become her boyfriend until 1975. She got that Oscar and 2 Golden Globe nominations in 1968 for “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.” If anything, it might’ve hurt her for the long run because of her relationship with Clint and after their breakup, she didn’t get any substantive work beyond a few small parts.

I have to agree, Clint was the one that gave the marriage vow and broke it. Even if Sondra made the initial advances, no matter how tempting, it was Clint’s duty to keep it professional, politely put a stop to it and treat her like a co-worker only.

I hold none of this against either of them and will continue to enjoy watching their movies.

Yes, you are right. I saw that. Amazing. I thought her roles in the Clint movies were bad, and that she showed little talent.

I don't know if he was married at the time but he also did Jane Brolin while she was married to James. It was her way of getting even with her husband for doing Farrah Fawcett.

My parents were friends with them during the 70s.

“...makes me feel I’ve accomplished nothing....”

Being a good American, raising good American children, and passing on all you’ve learned to another generation so that this experiment in Human freedom continues is more important than anything else. And you’ve accomplished more, in your walk through life, than you realize just by being the person that you are. Every one of us makes a difference in someone else’s life at one point or another.

“I once told you, Ryan... if even ONE makes it out, it’s a victory.”
