Have Been Using Brave. Auto Update Yesterday, and cannot change homepage and tracking

Posted on 12/09/2018 7:38:49 AM PST by Chickensoup

I have been using Brave with no issues but the scrolling problem.

Yesterday Brave updated.

Now I cannot change the homepage, it is one of theirs, I was able to change goog to duck duck go, but it now lists and autofills when I search and I cannot turn that off

There doesn't seem to be a place to do these simple things anymore.

Although the scrolling problem went away.

I don’t know how or why this happened but I just saw an icon on my desktop that said Brave (old) and I click it and I got my old Brave format back!!

It’s a black and white colored icon, not orange.

I just found it on my desktop.

It is back

happily has the toolbar on top

Thanks I never would have noticed.

The new brave loads faster and scrolls well.

They didn’t need to change anything else

In settings, in the basic tab, there’s a section titled “Appearance”.

In that section, there’s a “Show Home Button”. Make sure that’s on.

That will add two options. start a new tab or enter custom irl.

Put your prefered homepage into the custom url box and then click the home button which should be right next to the back page, forward page, reload page buttons.

I have already done this , it does not bring up homepage when the tab button is pressed to open new tab.

Yes. The new Brave.

On new tabs, nope. It doesn’t open to my homepage either. But, Brave initially opens to my homepage and if I click the Home button when a new tab opens, it goes to my homepage.

Yes but it doesn’t do what it used to do, which was open each tab to the home page. Grrrrr

and it doesn’t have the bar shortcuts at the top

And it seems clunkier

But it does not have a scrolling problem and it does load faster.

Darn. I just saw this message

:A newer version of Brave (0.57.18) has already been installed. This version of Brave (0.26.0) is no longer supported and will not be updated.
To avoid potential security risks, please move over to the latest version of the Brave Browser.

I am not worried. I like old brave.

I would like new brave if it looked like old brave and performed like new brave.
