Magna International Inc. founder and former Chief Executive Officer Frank Stronach is suing his daughter and others for C$520 million ($398 million), claiming mismanagement of the family fortune.
A lawsuit filed in Toronto by 86-year-old Stronach and his wife Elfriede names Belinda Stronach, chairman of the Stronach Group, Alon Ossip, Stronach Group’s CEO and others as defendants. Grandchildren Nicole Walker and Frank Walker and the Stronach Consulting Corp. are listed as co-defendants, according to the Toronto Star newspaper.
The Stronachs “regret having to commence proceedings in the Ontario Superior Court against their daughter Belinda, Alon Ossip and others,” the couple said in a statement issued by their law firms. “They only did so as a last resort, after having made considerable efforts over a period of almost two years to resolve the matters at issue on a consensual basis.”

I recall Belinda had an affair with Conservative party mainstay Peter MacKay a number of years back and then she soon bolted for the federal Liberals. The Media Party up here made a good number of headlines over that situation.
The first name is incorrect as well, it’s Belinda, not Brenda.
She is the same woman who torpedoed the Tories in exchange for a Cabinet seat. Loathsome woman.

I thought they were developers. When they bought Laurel Park and Pimlico, the rumor was that they intended to put Laurel out of business and develop the property. (It hasn’t happened.)
Just a non-sequitor, but one of my high school friends married one of Stronach’s senior executive’s daughters. It was one hell of a wedding and reception. This was back in the hey day of Magna and my friend’s wife’s family was probably worth $500 million.
