Internet ‘crawler’ programs probing around the world wide web seeking out data on websites or looking for vulnerable computers or placing data data on websites. Various information companies use these crawler bots to build large databases on a variety of topics. Google is the leader in this effort. Some others include Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, etc.
